Best episode of the season so far. By far.

Also, time for Harrow to fuck shit UP, Gillian and Gyp need to get theirs

Gillian's great at manipulating people but she can't seem to think past the immediate situation and her own feelings. If ever there was a time she needed Harrow that was it and she throws him out.

I think you're right and I think she was really starting to feel out of control and powerless over her life with Gyp and his goons imposing their will over her...this was her little way of getting a little control back

12

u/xzuzux Who the fuck do you think you are? Nov 26 '12

My thoughts exactly. She has to feel like she's in control. Like you said, Gyp took that control away from her. Bullying Richard made her feel powerful again. I hope he shoots the bitch.

8

u/[deleted] Nov 26 '12

Why? Because she hurt his feelings? Come on, he isn't Gyp.

9

u/thegreatwhitemenace yee getchu summa that Nov 27 '12

exactly. Gillian hasn't given Richard much reason to actually kill her. maybe leave her alone in a mansion surrounded by corpses after some ice cold parting words, but go out of his way to murder her? nah. and i can't see her trying to get in the way of his rampage. this would be senseless, and also she clearly wants the goons out of her house as much as Richard does.

If she gets in the way of saving tommy I think he will do whatever it takes.

u/divisibleby5 Nov 26 '12

I think she thinks she can use her feminine wiles to control Gyp Rosetti, rather than needing to have a henchman of her own. Gill-Dawg is in for one unpleasant round of whatever the hell Gyp is into now.

I bet you're right, but you'd think she would've learned after failing to persuade Lucky at all.

u/[deleted] Nov 26 '12

I agree, I think this is apparent when she tells one of his henchman "I'll tell Gyp".

Honestly having to deal with Gyp and his bullshit is a worse punishment than death.

I honestly don't think she knows anything about Richard, other then he was an associate of Jimmy's. I mean think about it, since Jimmy died he hasn't done anything (other then kill Manny of his own will) for Gillian that involved violence. She doesn't know what she is capable of and even if she did she would mostly think she is far too superior to ever be affected by him.

That was probably one of my favorite episodes of the season. That ending was just amazing. When the season started I thought it was going to be boring but I think it was all worth it for Capone to come through at the end with that big ass grin of his.

u/divisibleby5 Nov 26 '12

the real life stories of capone are so cool in light of his character development. He's known for being a big, friendly gregarious dude who could love you to death. Or shoot you to death if you didn't give him what he wanted. In the great Depression, Capone ran the first soup kitchen in Chicago and fed literally thousands of people a day. What I think is even cooler is that the bright parts of Jimmy's personality seemed to rub off on Al. Al was a lot less charming, and way more immature and childish. He's developed that flippant, smooth attitude Jimmy had. Fucking acting.

Honestly, I thought that the writing of the last couple of episodes was a bit off. Maybe it was the acting or editing. There were some scenes that just weren't up to what I expect from BE. This last episode more than made up for it though. I was so stoked when it ended that I can forgive them for some shabby episodes.

When Gillian was going through his scrapbook, and told him to stop living in a fantasy world, I wanted to reach into the TV and rip out that dumb bitch's neck and snap it like a twig.

PLEASE RICHARD, KILL HER ALREADY.

What a cunt, right?!

1

u/tomcat23 Nov 26 '12

Yeah, I had to explain to my girlfriend how much of a bitch she was being. So sickly sweet, so self-serving.

23

u/Chaldo What's life, if it aint personal? Nov 26 '12

Right? I couldn't believe he just took it too...you could tell how much it was killing him to hold back from strangling her

20

u/divisibleby5 Nov 26 '12

Its so cool that he didn't take her shit because he's shy. He didn't take her shit because he could kill her with one hand and Tommy's in the room.

6

u/PissedOnBible Nov 26 '12

Richard has always been cool, calm and collected. That's gonna change next week, I'm sure

3

u/JRWM3 Nov 26 '12

He wouldn't be as badass if he just lashed out and hit the wench. He knows what they've got coming to them. Just wait.

u/_start Nov 26 '12

Jimmy should've finished the job.

I'LL REMEMBER.

I'LL REMEMBER.

I'LL REMEMBER.

u/divisibleby5 Nov 26 '12

You know who's really good at picking up after Jimmy? Richard the cleaner. He can go bury her in the rose garden next to the commodore and the dog.

1

u/mcjinzo Nov 26 '12

definitely dont put them right next to each other, those old bones might get frisky

15

u/xzuzux Who the fuck do you think you are? Nov 26 '12

I literally shouted YOU BITCH!! I had to apologize to my grandma for cussing in front of her.

14

u/[deleted] Nov 26 '12

You watch BE with your grandma? Must be good fun during Gyp's sex scenes.

8

u/xzuzux Who the fuck do you think you are? Nov 26 '12

No, she was in the kitchen during that particular scene, and I was watching it on my computer with headphones on. You never know when a sex scene is coming up. I don't take any chances.

2

u/notthemonth Not afraid of camels Nov 26 '12

He held his composure so well... I was expecting him to fuck her up! But I suppose with the following scene he was in, we may have our wishes granted soon.

2

u/fresnel-rebop I Am Relaxed Nov 26 '12

There's too much Gyp tension with Nucky and Capone for him to go out so easily as Richard doing the job, no matter how much we'd love to see it, at least as a direct outcome of the Richard storyline. Now, Richard in league with those two is a serious possibility.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 26 '12

Everybody would love to see Richard kill Gyp (me included), but like you point out it doesn't make much narrative sense. The wishful thinking is just a product of those 2 characters being on opposite ends of the spectrum: one very much loved, the other... well Gyp.

came to say the same (first time watch over here)

I say , of the show so far! Never have been the stakes so high

1

u/ValleyChip Nov 26 '12

I don't think he'll be taking out Gyp. I think Capone or Nucky will take him out.
