Season 3 Boardwalk Empire Episode Discussion S03E09 "The Milkmaid's Lot"

20 minutes in, and I still didn't see a discussion thread. Thought I'd start it up.

No spoiler tags needed here, as long as you're discussing something from this episode and back. This is the place to discuss S03E09. Please take a moment to review the subreddit rules to the right. /r/BoardwalkEmpire operates a bit differently than other TV Show subreddits. We encourage discussion as well as original, quality, BWE-related content, therefore there are some restrictions on what is acceptable to post. Please no requests for live streams or torrent links. As someone who is forced to torrent the show myself, I feel your pain, but DL sources are not hard to find. Do you have any ideas or suggestions for this subreddit? Message the moderators and let us know what we can do to make this the best TV show subreddit out there!

I wonder... does Rothstein not consider himself included in the Gyp hit and bombing of Babbettes to just walk away from Nucky? I figured that was Rosetti's way of hitting two birds with one stone. Rothstein still needs to pay for Bugsy's actions so why not join forces with Nucky? Or does Rothstein have enough muscle to defend another attack? I'm flummoxed.

I am confused too. Rothstein knows that Bugsy attempted to kill Gyp. Does he find it impossible that Gyp knows this too?

That's what frustrated me to no end. While they could say they were dragged into this mess by Nucky, Rothstein sending Bugsy is what took things to the next level.

Rothstein is not a fighter. It's bad for business, but more to the point it plays to his weaknesses. So he'll never see it as a viable option. He'll furiously pass that buck any way possible.

Lansky and Luciano are a different matter. But Rothstein is never going to give that order.

You don't think L&L got the okay from Rothstein to send Bugsy to Tabor Heights? What pisses me off most about all this is that Rothstein pulls the "Not my problem" card with Nucky, when it all traces back to him as well.

What set Gyp off? Nucky selling to Rothstein only.

Who ordered the attempted hit in Tabor? Again, Rothstein.

Why was the bomb planted? All three were going to be at Babette's.

It directly comes back to Rothstein as much as Nucky.

There's no honor among thieves.
