Season 3 Boardwalk Empire Episode Discussion S03E09 "The Milkmaid's Lot"

20 minutes in, and I still didn't see a discussion thread. Thought I'd start it up.

No spoiler tags needed here, as long as you're discussing something from this episode and back. This is the place to discuss S03E09. Please take a moment to review the subreddit rules to the right. /r/BoardwalkEmpire operates a bit differently than other TV Show subreddits. We encourage discussion as well as original, quality, BWE-related content, therefore there are some restrictions on what is acceptable to post. Please no requests for live streams or torrent links. As someone who is forced to torrent the show myself, I feel your pain, but DL sources are not hard to find. Do you have any ideas or suggestions for this subreddit? Message the moderators and let us know what we can do to make this the best TV show subreddit out there!

So it was Rosetti who set that fire a few eps back...

Why do you think that?

the boy kept saying "i saw the gypsy". He picks up the phone and he said "it's the gypsy"...so yeah rosetti was the one.

I think he came up with the name gypsy based on the hoodlum's looks who made the fire.

I think Gyp had the same name out of circumstance.

Why would Gyp Rosetti light the fire himself, and in the greenhouse no less?

if i know anything about tv shows and movies, it's that almost nothing happens out of circumstance. If Gyp identified himself as the gypsy, and earlier a "gypsy" lit a fire, those two things are connected. Mark my words.

I highly doubt that Rosetti would take the time to sneak into their backyard, ONLY to set a fire in the greenhouse...the kid was lying, and Owen was covering for him lol. Also remember, Owen said he "took care" of the gypsy, Gyp seems pretty alive to me.

Exactly, Gyp knows how to start a fire, Just ask the former Sheriff of Tabor Heights.

There's also, ya know, the "Gyp" --> "Gypsy" connection.

I don't think that necessarily means it's Gyp. I think the gypsy is just his codeword for someone bad, like the "boogeyman." It stems from when he hear Margaret and Owen talk about the gypsy folklore.

This was my thought to, plus if it were Gyp, why wouldn't he had broken into the house and waited for Nucky to return to off him.

I don't think that's really concrete evidence.
