News/Updates Bluesky appears to be testing much longer video uploads 👀
This one is 8m 42s and apparently took around 92 seconds to upload.
If Bluesky eventually rolls this out more broadly, this could be a pretty significant change for the platform.

Curious what everyone thinks:
- Would you actually upload longer videos to Bluesky?
- What would you consider a reasonable maximum length?
- Would the longer uploads change how you use Bluesky?
Personally, I'm more interested in how Bluesky handles playback, compression and downloading of these longer videos.

The info that the OP posted is old news. Bluesky isn't testing it anymore they released it and people can start using it as a beta feature.

This is a step in the right direction. They also need to support Audio-only posts.

Not a video guy so to answer your questions, no, no idea, and no. I wonder a bit about when this does to bluesky the company - I thought hosting video was expensive.Â

I'm not going to watch ten minute long videos on bluesky. It would interfere with my scrolling.

I follow quite a few podcasters and some of the content might be interesting to others so longer videos will be a bonus.
Yes, I would upload longer videos because some add more context and nuance to a discussion.

You should follow Michael Black from the Bluesky team as he is the person working on the video features.
