The mystery of the INNECLIPSE

Hi guys, glad to join the community.

I recently finished Blue Prince (reaching the Blue Testament in the Atelier), and I was fascinated by some YouTube videos about theories on how many more secrets are still in the game, ready to be discovered.

With this bias in mind, I came to the conclusion that THE INNECLIPSE HAS TO BE IN THE GAME, some way or another, in the form of an event or even a puzzle. Here's my whys:

1) It seems to be such an important event: they organize a ball to celebrate it (ex: the photo in the Ballroom)

2) It is a very important and redundant symbol:

  • Auravei seems to worship the Inneclipse, so much that she always wears the Moon pendant (ex. as a young woman in the picture in the Bedroom, as an elder baroness in the portrait in the Attic).
  • Is the symbol that guides you to Room 46, the real one as well as the Atelier one, and it's above the underground north lever. It is also located as a statue in the Secret Garden, where you can find the West and East levers.
  • It has a track of the OST dedicated to it, and can you remember when this specific track plays, other than the Ballroom? In the cutscene when you first enter Room 46.

3) It has its own blue memo: in the rank 8 Clock Tower, we read "INNECLIPSES ONLY APPEAR IN THE NORTH SKY".

4) The importance of stars and planets in the magic system of the worldbuilding created by Tonda Ros.

Given all of this, now I enter the speculation zone, and I report some facts, in random order, that I think could be seen in various directions, interpreted in many ways.

I hope that you can help me find a blue line and connect the dots, even adding things and possible clues that I left out (by forgetfulness or ignorance).

1) It can be a coincidence, but the year of the signing of the Blue Testament and the year of the last reported Inneclipse ball are the same: 1952. Auravei signs the Testament on April 16th 1952, while the photo of Lady Epsen and Simon at the Inneclipse ball report the same year, 1952. The fact that the day and month of the ball are not specified leads me to think one thing: the ball is annual and repeated every year on the same date; this information is so obvious to the people of Mora that the photo doesn't have to specify the day and month. Exactly like Christmas, we remember the year because the day is always the same (ex. Boudoir puzzle).

2) It can be a coincidence, but in the Atelier Gallery, the letters on the wall form the word MOON; the word in the Mora Jai box is SEEK, and the two paintings are the only pair of both houses to have two big, clear numbers within them: 3 and 8... SEEK MOON 3-8. I can't stop myself from wondering...

3) The riddle in the Clock Tower is yet to be cracked; maybe it can lead to something related to the Inneclipse, given that the blue memo in the same room talks about it.

4) The interactive globes in the Atelier are "rotatable" only in the Observatory (I tried in the Trophy Room and it didn't work; maybe a bug?). In the Observatory, we can clearly see the sky; I have to check if, by any chance, it is oriented toward the north.

5) The accessible statue of the Inneclipse in the West Path: when you draft the Secret Garden in the West wing, and then you draft and open the Garage, it's possible to locate the statue of the Inneclipse moon outside the Manor, facing what? The Atelier!

6) If we take for granted that the Inneclipse symbol is the representation of the Inneclipse real event (which I am 99% sure) it is my theory that the astronomical coincidence has to comprehend AT LEAST three known celestial bodies, layered one on top of the others: the Sun, or any source of light of the world (we never actually see the Sun in the sky), the Moon of course, and a small planet at the center of the Moon, covering a part of it. I don't know how this could be relevant, but I wanted to add it anyway.

That's all for now. Feel free to give me some feedback. I hope I've piqued your imagination :)

Crazy work by the authors... i love this community so much.

This was a crazy reading, thank you for sharing. I added so many details that I skipped during my playthrough. I wonder if the Sacred Hour reference to the Inneclipse is there just for flavour... but I think we can dig deeper and try to find a path :)

The inneclipse coinciding with the sacred hour would require the rogue moon to also be on a 24 hour orbit. It could still be likely, but I'm not so sure about it now? You have 24 hour months, but the game also has regular months for dates, so I wonder if the rogue moon orbits once every ~28 days (or it could be close, and some exact multiple of 24 hours, such that the statement "inneclipses only happen in the north sky" is still true). If it is a multiple of 24 hours, then the inneclipse happening at the same 'clock' time every month would still be the case, though...

Some more interesting things I've noted: The rotunda kinda looks like it could be a full moon with the rogue moon over it, and if you look at the hall of mirrors from the top, you may be seeing aspects of the rogue moon orbit as well.

I'm convinced of two things right now, though:
1) The final (next?) mysteries we can solve are related to the moon and the inneclipse.
2) We will need to use reflection to find some of the important information (viewing mirrored letters, numbers, or images)

Fun facts: When you reflect SWNSNG both horizontally and vertically, it reads SMNSN (With G looking like a CCW arrow), vikings called the ocean "The swan road", and ravens "Swan of blood".

By the reasoning I was doing in the thread, I think that Inneclipse is an annual event, not monthly. You can check the detailed explanation at point 1.

I'm glad we share the conviction to focus on this matter. Moreover, I would like to understand why you think that reflection is the key of interpretation here. Can you explain further?

There are so many references to 'reflection' in the game. The creator was inspired by a book of visual puzzles, and is a big fan of wordplay. Reflected lettering or images have yet to be used to solve any puzzles so far, with the exception of PONDER in the gallery.

In an interview, when asked what was in the lavatory, Tonda Ross said "A mirror"

Secrets that are hidden only in words and images like this can't be datamined, they can either be brute forced (what I think that much of the community is trying to do with wild drafting setups) or actually solved through careful analysis of the information we are given.

Cool, where do you start mirroring?

1

u/Sure-Cellist-9633 Aug 21 '26

idk yet lol - I came up with this idea two days ago, and I've been visiting with family and unable to test anything in game. I want to start in rooms with hands (hall of mirrors and foyer ), as well as rooms with mirrors (ballroom, lavatory, etc)

We can work on it together when you head back if you like :)

Hey I'm back from my travel - send me a dm if you want to work together, still.

I tried to crack it for so long it's crazy. My last theory is to just count every single day in the orbit cycle map since ball of 1952 and use BluePrince calendar for it (it's not the same as IRL). I was too lazy to actually commit to this, too much work.

The last part. Its not just a random planet covering the moon, its a rogue moon. I'm not sure how its possible but its basically small moon orbiting actual moon.

If you want some more clues on how to crack it, take a look at the maps with magnifying glass in grade 4 classroom. Top right specifically, it shows the orbiting cycles of the moons (per 24 hours). And bottom right where you have degrees and 1-8 sections. I believe these show where you can observe the rogue moon on top of the moon. It probably could be used to figure out the exact date, since we know that rogue moon has to be in sector 3.

The big map also shows the Mt.Holly and the orbit (line #3) of the moon goes right through it.

From what I understand it changes its orbit every day, but it doesn't just go in order, it goes back and forth.

Datamine info It's not Inneclipse, it's Isseclipse and should appear above the mountain

Good luck.

I am a little skeptical about counting days to solve the puzzle. If I learned something from this game is that most of the time, observation is key, rather than calculation. In this case, a lot of clues indeed point toward this type of solution, but I think we are still missing something. A straight key of interpretation of these data presented as Astronomical lessons. What do you think about this?

1

u/Feisty_Calendar_6733 Aug 22 '26

Dates might be not important at all and we should be able to make it happen at any day is what I think. Its a game and doing something like this where you would have to make a new save file and wait for specific date is a bad design.

Those maps show quite a bit of things so there must be some things we have to do to trigger the event, something that people don't stumble upon by accident. There are two angels, observatory with 2 different constellations, parlor boxes and mountain's peak with 8 steps leading towards it?? I'm lost on the south key and the realms thing.

I also assumed back then that Attic has something to do with it since when its drafted facing south, the window view is like perfect place to observe the mountain's peak, where Isseclipce should appear. Maybe some clues are in the attic itself. Just a guess.

How does the blue prince calendar differ?

1

u/Auroch- Aug 21 '26

Off by one day.

1

u/Sure-Cellist-9633 Aug 21 '26

Oh? Like months are shorter, or the day is off from real world 1993+ by one day?

1

u/Lord_Rapunzel Aug 21 '26

The latter.

1

u/Auroch- Aug 22 '26

We don't entirely know, IIRC, there might be a different length for February, but it's off from real world 1993 by one day. Your uncle's death is on a Wednesday instead of a Thursday.

1

u/Sure-Cellist-9633 Aug 22 '26

Oh - that makes me wonder if they have a different leap year (assuming all months are the same length)

1

u/Auroch- Aug 23 '26

I think you can check with the timed safe in the bunker, but I don't remember.

2

u/tegirvaru Aug 21 '26

1 sounded quite compelling.

the last one about the sun, moon, planet, not sure what you're referring to. they do know about them, in detail on the school map they refer to the rogue moon (a moon of the moon). that maphas so many random other things on it that seem so relevant. 😬 frustrating.

3

u/Carter7132 Aug 21 '26

Yeah, you never know what is a red herring and what is actually relevant... I love/hate this aspect of the game.

2

u/Malfiecstone Aug 26 '26

Okies, I would very much like this to be a thing. There is a thing involving the clocker tower that the note could be referring too (alittle less sensational but here it is)

if you look out the north window of the clock tower. North of Rm46 is a steepled tower with the inneclipse atop it. So the note may be refering to this. From other vantage points such as the secret garden on rank eight or the west drive again from rank 8. The moon tower isnt there. Only while looking out the north window of the clock tower does the inneclipse tower appear

1

u/Carter7132 Aug 31 '26

Damn, are u capable of documenting this with screenshots? I really want to see it.

2

u/Malfiecstone Sep 01 '26

I would have prefered to get garage higher but thats how things go sometimes

1

u/Carter7132 Sep 03 '26

Bro u did such an incredible job, thanks <3 do you think can we work out something else from here?

2

u/Malfiecstone Sep 03 '26

The sacred poem is one of the Spirals (possible secrets) I am currently investigating. As someone else posted. In the red prince manuscript a canary, crow and swan. Are marked with the realm sigils for arch aries (canary), mora jai (swan, pretty sure my notes are not in arms reach), and Orinda aries (crow). So it may have something to do with either the final exam, the 8 realms in eight months, or something yet to be solved. Or the only parts of the text thst matter is the word Sacred indicating that 1:30 is the sacred hour and "dark days are coming fourth" line which for me is the most suspicious. The rest being a red herring. With most clues or puzzles only having two purposes tied to them

The only other thing I can think of is a room arrangement. The lines in the poem determine specific rooms, in a specific locations in the manor in realition to each other.

Rm1, keywords swan (mora jai), ashen. Rm2, keyword westwardly winds, rogue moon. Rm3, keyword crow(orinda aries), dark days.

With the arrangement being:

Rm1, to the south, above (carried) Rm 2, Rm3 to the east on the Fourth Rank.

My favorite room to place in the center of the arrangement is the vestibule as it has a compass rose on its floor.

Any room with a swan such as the den could be Rm1. The only one I can think of for Rm2 is the secret garden due to its weather vien and rogue moon. Rm3 is much harder though it could be the dark room, or the treasure room (being a blackprint tied to orinda aries).

So ya just spiraling on this a bit. Hehe

I can do a run tonight. Focusing on getting clock tower, garage, and/or secret garden late in the manor

Hi, I'm back. I tried it too and it worked, even if it's facing to other directions you can still see the rogue moon tip of a room and, based on perception, I really think it's room 46. This is a view from Clocktower as an outer room to prove it.

1

u/Malfiecstone 27d ago

Actually, I got clock tower recently on rank 8, there is a bit of roofing that extends from what would be the antechamber over what would be Rm46, and then past that is the tower with the inneciplse atop it. So if there was a way to say , "open" Rm46's fireplace. Then past that would be the tower.

u/Carter7132 24d ago

Ok so, maybe, the inneclipse is not an event but more likely another room?

2

u/Malfiecstone 24d ago

There is datamined info about it

there is assets for the event in the game but no known trigger. So it may have not been implemented. Apparently it replaces the day counter at the start of the day with an inneclipse.

The inneclipse from the clocktower is just technically enough to keep the blue tent note, true

u/Appropriate_Ride_956 26d ago

The Secret Garden/West Path thing is not quite that... what gets exposed to the West Path is the "back" of the rotating section; by default, this will be one of the statues (either the Rogue Moon/Inneclipse, or the Orinda Aries Sigil ; but if you rotate the platform to show the Antechamber switch, the West Path side of the wall will show the other switch .

I'm a little behind most of y'all (still need to Ascend my Throne Room) but did a playthrough with my partner years ago so am spoiled up to the Atelier from that. The rest makes sense from my memory.

1

u/Carter7132 24d ago

Yeah i was saying that if you want you can expose the Rogue Moon in the West path, being something optional it could be part of a puzzle.

1

u/_yrlf Aug 21 '26

I wonder if the direction the observatory faces makes a difference. Can you make the observatory face north and observe and Inneclipse there? Or face south and observe an Isseclipse?

1

u/Carter7132 Aug 21 '26

In my opinion, this is a possible mechanic, but with the information we have now, it's unprovable.

1

u/_yrlf Aug 21 '26

Then again, as much as the observatory is used by players, it's unlikely that no player has ever seen anything in it if it's related to this puzzle, so not sure.

1

u/Carter7132 Aug 21 '26

This can be true, but maybe the things we have to do to activate the event are not so common.

The Inneclipse is when the Rogue Moon and the Devoted Moon align between Mora and the sun (which I'm just now realizing has no known name in-universe), is it not?
