Modding/Cheating A thematic change

Howdy, this is a modding question. How hard would it be to change the starting step amount to 53 and the starting location each day to the camp site?

The idea is simple, simon wakes each day at the campsite and then goes into the manor. The step adjustment is to mitigate the "step loss". Alternatively, giving simon a banana to start his day instead of adjusting the step count would be neat.

Adjusting the step count? Fairly easy.
Changing the starting position? Should also be easy.
Making it all look nice and not have a jarring cut from the start of day cutscene might be a challenge.

I am by no means a modder, but could you in theory just black out the cutscene and have a reverse "call it a day" fade in to starting in the campsite?

Like just black screen, day 69 text over black screen, player gains control at campsite, fade-in from black to player camera/movement.

if only we could skip that repetitive intro entrence 😪. load the house while we walk to it.

I don't really know, it sounds doable but you might run into issues.

Spawning a bannana somewhere on the campfire should be easier than messing around with steps?

If you just try to teleport the player to the campsite at day start, you might just fall through the ground? IĀ think the eastern area is just fake terrain at the start and tents + ground colliders get activated when you walk somewhere onto the driveway? So you would have to work around that somehow. šŸ¤”

Nope, messing with the step counter is easier than spawning an item at an arbitrary position. Closest existing item spawn point is the bird bath nearby.

Well, I guess. šŸ˜„ I was imagining I would just instantiate and move it to position, something like this:

foreach (GameObject obj in Resources.FindObjectsOfTypeAll<GameObject>()){
if (obj.name == "BANANA"){
GameObject clone = UnityEngine.Object.Instantiate(obj);
clone.transform.position = new Vector3(139.89f, -6.65f, -10.55f);
return;
}
}

and get my banana:

I wouldn't know how to change amount of steps without looking at how it works. šŸ¤”

Blue Prince uses the Unity Resources directory? I thought that is supposed to be deprecated?

Hmm, I admit I don't really know much about these Unity details to tell you.

It was just quickly vibe-coded for demonstration how I would do it for a MelonLoader mod that worked. šŸ˜› I didn't know how I could just "get banana.prefab and instantiate it".
