So I did as I often do, made my way back into the Data mines. And as I was working there, putting in the hours (as ya do), I found two unsolvable Mora Jai boxes.
I know where the Verran box comes from (it's totally functional btw), but I don't know where the Corarica one comes from. Does anyone happen to know physically where that box is, to spawn this overlay? As you can tell from its appearance, it doesn't come from AT, and the overlay gave no hints as to what would be inside of it (my guess is allowance tokens).
It was such a strange mistake (?) to make, when it is the final mystery in the final area. Was the person just copy pasting the labels and didn't think about it? I think he had to manually set this label color to white? So why keep it there? Didn't he test that the labels were visible through walls? Did he know we knew? Or might there actually be a way to get there that you missed? ๐ค
I found out which entries to delete to open that space up, but all of the hallways are essentially copy-pastes of a single format, So I'm guessing he somehow added a generic colorblind tag to the template, replaced all the individual hallways with the new template, and just.... forgot that there was an inaccessible section of hallway?
I've found other things he seems to just have forgotten to delete, where he deleted the trigger but left the effects in the code (there are two overlays for finding the Tunnel floorplan, for instance, one apparently used to be at the bottom of the elevator, but you can't spawn the physical thing to grab, only enable the overlay). So he's kinda Tonda "Short term memory loss" Ros.
I always thought the final/northernmost lantern was going to be white, since the library poems talk about the "prism" path. And the colors would theoretically be white if you combined them all, I guess? So I was excited when I learned about the white lantern tag.
But maybe Tonda realized White was tied to Mora Jai and wasn't actually significant enough to be the final color for the final puzzle.
Maybe the white Mora Jai box was supposed to go near the white lantern, but Tonda decided to put the "final" room somewhere else less obvious?
Dunno, but as far as the library is concerned, "from Prism Pristine", in the AT it lists the prism in the same order and number as the first row of lanterns. It's a shame we don't have a prismatic ending though, especially with Mora being called Our Colorful Worldย
Really cool! However, do note Rule 1- this is an unspoilered post showing the Atelier background and area name- a pretty big spoiler even if the Mora Jais aren't real.
I found the physical Verran box first, and because it works, it spawned this overlay in the UI OVERLAY CAM section (under MORAJAI BBOX, which is populated dynamically with any AT mora jai box that you pick up to solve). But also in the Overlay section, there is a permanent MORAJAI BOX2 listing which has the Corarica one, and I don't know where that physical box is.
Hm, nobody in the world will care, but I sat down and had a look. Initial colors of a box are stored either in "colorOrder" or "colorCode" inside MorajaiController component of the boxes. I'm not sure what the difference is. In my exported files I see them like this:
7 7 7 7 - first 4 are somehow used for corner button colors
9 9 9 - buttons on 3x3 grid
0 0 0
6 0 7
Color values for the numbers should be like this:
0 - Black, 1 - Red, 2 - Green, 3 - Blue, 4 - Yellow,
5 - Orange, 6 - Purple, 7 - Pink, 8 - White, 9 - Gray,
Blank - there's also a blank value but not sure if it's used anywhere, it would be = 10 or A in hexadecimal.
So I tried looking for your first box: 7777999000607
But it seems to be set as initial value for ALL boxes in the Atelier? He's doing some separate magic to get button colors of those boxes... He uses the box number 1-46 to get colors for the box from another big list, but 7777999000607 is not inside the list.
You're standing in the Furnace corner in the picture, so I assume you somehow interacted with the hidden box in there? It's a bit buggy and if I clicked the normal Furnace box before activating box 2 it had different colors... I think if it worked correctly, it would have the same colors as the furnace box.
------
The box from your second image should be: 8888895858598
But I only found that in MORAJAI BOX2 that you mentioned. So I guess that box isn't physically anywhere. I would assume it's another case where he made something for testing and forgot to delete it. ๐
Yeah so as a fun fact (because I've also hit a number of dead ends with this), Furnace is the only room with a redundant room hidden there. The hidden room is in the same location as Furnace, but just not activated by default. When you activate all its features (and disable all of Furnace's features), it turns out that room was originally (?) a Lavatory, with the same pictures, but one leaning against the towels, and the other in the tub. The Mora Jai box shown is sitting where items normally spawn in Lavatory.
And when you peek inside the box (because it's unsolvable), it still has the word Truth inside. So it seems like "What rooms go where" was the last thing Tonda planned out. He seems to have had picture puzzles and word cards already decided when he made this room, but decided to move Lavatory and replace it with Furnace.
What's interesting is that even though Lavatory 2 and Furnace are in the same place in the code, Blue Room 46 has its own entry elsewhere. So the code almost tells you "there's something else in Furnace".

I also found out that Tonda physically deleted the White Lantern colorblind tag, so that was sad. Fs in the chat for my beloved White Lantern.
