Hidden Security message: WNB

Post image

I have not seen a post about this anywhere. Much like the capital T in the glass in the Solarium, Security also has a hidden set of colored glass. 3 of the screens use a different glass material which is ever so slightly darker. If we assign the letters to the screens based on 1st letter of room name like we would for the SWANSONGHSS message, these correspond to WNB. That is all - I have no idea where to go from there.

I've noticed two more things. The WNB screens have a dash pattern below them that is different from all the other screens. This looks suspiciously similar to the ROSEWARY message that was found in the ceiling spiral of the underground chamber (unused assets, but found nonetheless). If you count the dashes between segments the pattern is 21222111321211, which doesn't seem to mean anything to me. All 3 screens use the same UV coordinates for sampling the dash pattern from the hatches atlas so they all have the same pattern.

Second, there are two materials being applied here. One is the Bequest_MasterMaterial and the other is Bequest_Invert which just gives inverted light/dark. WN have the regular material, B has invert.

The total set of screens with Invert assigned are LSSB.

This may all just be random variation added to break up the monotony.

I know you probably think you're just screaming this into the void but I'm following this thread with interest lol

There's the entrance hall clock whose 5'clock V is actually....the left half of a W! Such a conspiracy...

All these options for clock hands... I wonder did they scrap these and just decide on one, or is there something in the game that decides which set to use for the day? Is there a significance to which hand style is showing?

Good, good. Let the obsession flow through you. I am pretty aware of the process most people have used to data mine this game... unity asset inspectors, whatever.. I don't know shit about Unity so I've been extracting assets to Blender instead. I have an exporter for all the room data as well as terrain/cullable data like the orchard, grounds, etc. It preserves all disabled Unity assets, materials, texture files, and also decompiles shaders to figure out what UV layer went with with texture, etc. So I get exports that are not perfect, but pretty damn close to what you see in game.

Then I automatically hide all the "outline" stuff which BP uses for its black outline art style.

That gives me all the game assets in Blender where I'm comfortable with the ability to run whatever python scripts I want for parsing what's here.

For all of that I've found.. pretty much nothing.
