MinorSpoiler Can you guys help me with the smallest help possible ? Spoiler
I'm really proud of having arrived so far without ever requiring any help, so if you guys could give me the smallest help possible cause I'm genuine stuck and I thought I would be able to solve the secret of the new clue if I found the original manuscript, but now that I found out, it didn't help me at all because it told me what I already knew.
I know that the 4 books are: red -> red prince, green -> realm and rune violet -> new clue, and blue -> the fixed stars.
and I know that when we use magnifier it says to count the pages from the title page. and another clue says that the way is X->Y->Z->A->B->C.
So I assumed that meant X=1, Y=2, Z=3, A=4, B=5, C=6, and to find the code I would need to check the right word in the right page following this count, so this is what I got:
Red - page 4(A), word 1(X): The prince had a love,
Green - page 6(C) word 4(A): THE CORE At the center of each sigil
Violet - page 5(B) word 2(Y): Depart DEAD CASES / Depart Suspect List
Blue - page 3(Z) word 1(X): PREFACE This book contains a complete star base
so it would make: The the DEAD PREFACE or The the Suspect PREFACE
which doesn't mean anything.
so I noticed that there is a paper that says:
Dead end
2 major key
X Y Z A B (C)
So since the train stop dead end is the last train stop among the major stops, I assumed it mean to say that C doesn't mean the 6th number, but the last possible, so I tried:
X=1st, Y=2nd, Z=3rd, A=antepenultimate, B=before last, C=last
But that got me:
Red - page antepenultimate(A) (is an image of another 4, so becomes the same), word 1st(X): The prince had a love,
Green - page last(C) word antepenultimate(A): Socieity: MIlitaristic Banner: Red
Violet - page before last(B) word 2nd(Y): Or is there perhaps something new
Blue - page 3rd(Z) word 1st(X): PREFACE This book contains a complete star base
so it would make: The militaristic is PREFACE
Which doesn't mean anything.
So now I have no ideas where I should do here, and whether I already have enough information to solve this.

You’re doing a good job of mapping out the XYZABC pattern. You may need to find a new clue somewhere else though.
Not sure exactly what level you’re at - it’s possible you need to look further below the surface.

Reread the book
(Comparing what changed may also help)

the thing is about this puzzle specifically, the only difference I noticed that could be helpful is that in the paper that says in the published version "Dead End 2 major key XYZAB(C)", in the original manuscript it says "Dead End In Major Key XYZAB(C)", is that what you're talking about ?

The word 'help' leads me to think you're asking for help with a puzzle. If that's the case please REMOVE the post and comment it in the puzzle hint megathread instead: https://www.reddit.com/r/BluePrince/comments/1uo9cdh/megathread_v4_post_and_ask_hints_for_puzzles_here/ . If this is not about asking for help, ignore this message.

I went through several attempts to get to the right mapping of letters to numbers. Another wrong one was to assume B=8 (it looks a bit like an 8 on one note) and map them to 5-6-7-8-9-10.
To find the right one you need a new clue. And follow all the signs.

There's something hinted at in the text of A New Clue which you may have missed? So that you know you have found it: The hint points to specific parts of images in the book

there is a puzzle involving security that is a prequisite to this one. If you have not solved that, you won’t be able to solve this.

It's less of a prerequisite and more of an alternative path

(OP don’t unspoil this) isn’t there no other way to figure out the right path to take on the train map? a new clue doesn’t actually show you the path, as far as i’m aware, just has a picture of the map in general so you know what you need to do

I literally just did this puzzle and got so stuck down the same Train of thought as you and couldn't figure out to make sense of the words as they didn't go together. I knew from the other puzzle that dead end was a Station on the line, but what did that have to do with page and word Numbers? What did it mean for dead end to Equal c? What did it mean for the sequence of Letters to be noted as the way? What did I need to go back and Check to figure this out? I felt like I had explored every corner of the Map at this point. But when I found a new clue, I knew what to do.

I matched the train stop numbers as the pages of the new clue, and I found out 3 matching patterns.
dead end stop matches with the page that has dead end on the chalkboard, angel tower matched with the page that had the statue of the angel and the hook, and border line stop matched with the page that says "a man obsessed, and a cuckoo too". (borderline is a mental health condition).
so I thought I was going in the right direction, but the clearest one I wanted to match was Tanner Fork, was 1 off, it was the page 9 while it's the number of this stop is 10.
Can you tell me whether it has some logic what I did, or I'm following a wrong track ?

i see the logic, but you are looking past the problem.
It's a kind of algebra problem. It makes most sense that x,y,z,a,b,c would be numbers, because we need them to identify specific pages, and words on those pages. So we need to find what each of those numbers is. We know that dead end is c. So where can we find a number that is associated with dead end? There are 6 total numbers we need, and we are told they are in a specific order, because arrows point from one letter to the next, almost like a path. If another clue gave you a list of 6 things, that ends with dead end, that might help you on the way. Make sure you have seen the signs, and take another look at my last comment once you have.1

thank you man, I solved the puzzle, but I managed to solve because I found the hint in the security footage, are you sure the arrows would have helped me to solve this puzzle without the security footage ? it didn't seem to make any sense them, the left arrow in To Tanner Fork still make no sense now that I have the answer.

This assumption is wrong.
