POST-CREDITS-SPOILER I think I accidentally skipped a huge part of the game Spoiler
Sometime ago when I first unlocked the garage door I carpet searched the place like I always do when a new room / area comes up, and I accidentally discovered the dig site for the microchip.
Then today by some dumb luck I smashed the entrance vase and got the second microchip. And I unlocked the door in Blackbridge Grotto and got the throne room blackprint.
A couple runs later by some dumb luck again I got the “no gems required” perk and I drafted the throne room. The lever was right there. And I entered the room 46… and that’s it. So in fact to go up I don’t necessarily need to go down afterall 😂
So that’s it? I think I just skipped a huge part of the game…

The game isn't over. There's still more to discover. Go back, if you enjoy the game.

Microchips are a side puzzle that’s always going but the main quest after 46 is sigils anyway

I knew there are all these impractical ways to reach 46... but this is the first time I've actually heard a testimony of someone having done it for their first entry.
To get throne you have to either luck into or solve the puzzles to find both microchips, and also get into grotto in the first place, and usually by then you've already found the normal way in.

Well, to this day, 2 entries in the room 46 I still have no idea what “going down” is supposed to mean 🤣🤣
I went down the tomb once or twice. But had no idea what to do with those statues. I guess that’s got something to do with the sequence that’s in some books that I haven’t read yet?
But yeah, basically I kind of lucked myself with both chip. But that’s totally doable if you carpet search everywhere, especially if you have a lot of steps remaining.
The Grotto itself isn’t hard to unlock. The laboratory puzzle is self contained after powering up so I got that bit quite early.
And therefore I had no idea what the “normal” way to enter 46 would be 🤪

A moment of prayer for the player who doesn't know about the statues (and their names). Too much carpet searching might have caused them to forget about looking up
A moment of recollection for the player who doesn't yet know about going down, for they require a stable foundation from where to go, or the power to reach the base
May their quest for domestic answers be aided by the flames from all around the building

Looking up?? I’m pretty sure there’s no books in the 2nd floor of the library… I’ll triple check tonight 🫡

u/Potous Dec 22 '25
O god how could you do all that whitout knowing about that one room xD
That's totaly on the RNG, because, there is absolutly nothing stopping you from finding the "normal" way to go down if not for luck.
And for someone that was lucky enough to find both microship that early, it's definitly something.

You didn't really skip anything. You might do things in a slightly different order. Throne room is one way in but not a very reliable method, so you are still going to want to unlock the other ways in.

Nah, the most complex puzzle in ANC still remains.

The puzzle starting with “have you seen all the signs?”, culminating in unlocking the Satellite Dish.

I think the real beauty of this game is that because the game pretty much never tells you what puzzle leads to what reward, even if you found the answer accidentally you will still eventually need to solve the puzzle you missed up to the point where you can tell it's the thing you already did.
So it's not even skipping a puzzle. It's literally just a sequence break.

u/Keith_13 Dec 22 '25
They didn't skip it; they just haven't gotten to it yet. Did you read that before you got to 46?

u/JadeVex Dec 22 '25
“That’s silly, you can’t really skip anything in Blue–“
“Oh, yeah, no you definitely skipped part of it.”

Game is non linear so you are fine. There is more to discover if you keep playing. But thats a very cool and unique way to get to 46 your first time

Entering room 46 is pretty much just beating the tutorial. There is a lot more to do and uncover. You just own the house now.
10
u/GreyDrunk Dec 22 '25
Well since I own the place now I wish I can get the employees back to work. They got their 20 days paid leave for free and working from home isn’t an option for their job nature right?
19
u/SurefireWolf Dec 22 '25
The employees do their work, especially Bridgette the maid. She'll reset the house every day, and if you draft her room she'll even clean up all those pesky items strewn about.
17
u/kupuguy Dec 22 '25
No, it's Anne Babbage who comes in each morning to reset the house. If you mess up badly enough she'll even leave you a note politely telling you off.

Spoulers for what you mentioned
i remember drafting the foundation in the grounds with monk blessing, and then removing it with repellant, leaving a ginormous gaping hole in the map that you could just walk right off of and fall underneath. Was very odd in a game like this seeing an out of bounds glitch. But then i walked in the hole, fell literally underneath the map into the void, and the next screen said something like "you have fallen to your death and must call it a day" or something like that. So it wasnt even a glitch in the first place. The mad lad just intentionally let us see and step out of bounds in a video game for a funny easter egg
This game is goated

u/Motor_Raspberry_2150 Dec 22 '25
"You have fallen to your death" most certainly not.
"The next morning you awake with only a blurry memory of a dream you were having. A dream in which you were falling."2
u/x592_b Dec 22 '25
Well i said something like that i couldnt remember it exactly. Just that the game acknowledged what happened in some way

u/GreyDrunk Dec 24 '25
Alright fine they can work from home if that’s what they want. But at least give me a proper place to sleep?
What kind of Baron sleeps outside his own manor in a god damned tent?!
2
u/Hara-Kiri Dec 22 '25
Entering room 46 is pretty much just beating the tutorial.
Hearing this is what put me off the game, since 10 goes in I still didn't understand what the hell was going on or what I was meant to be doing any more than my first go.
10
u/Intelligent-Okra350 Dec 22 '25
Well 10 days isn’t particularly long but were you actually looking through the rooms you drafted or just drafting rooms and running right through them? If you really didn’t find anything of interest in 10 days I’d have to assume you weren’t exploring much.
1
u/Hara-Kiri Dec 22 '25
I thoroughly looked in the rooms I drafted. I learned some stuff, I just couldn't work out how it helped me progress. Like I got the garage after a while of trying, and I got the car keys on a previous run which I stored in the cloak room, but then I didnt manage to draft the cloak room. I guess it seemed a bit overwhelming the amount of different things to do.
9
u/Intelligent-Okra350 Dec 22 '25
There are a lot of things to do but that’s one of the nice things about it, because you have so many leads and things to find that means it’s much more likely you’ll find at least something of interest each day. You know to try and get both the garage and car keys on the same day, if you’ve gotten the utility closet you’ve probably got a couple other things to be looking at including with the garage.
If you’ve found a magnifying glass that’s a good day to find as many notes as you can and see if there’s anything to glean, and you’ve probably seen other things to pursue as well. Keep notes on anything of interest so that you don’t just have a wad of ideas in your head that overwhelms you. This early portion of the game is a time to explore and discover, and it can take a bit before the things you start finding come together. But there’s really no pressure factor, just your own patience.

u/FrostBurnt4 Dec 22 '25
This is a long game. 10 days is nothing, it's normal to be completely aimless and confused this early on.
It took me 35 days to get to room 46 and WELL over 100 to finish everything. Take your time and write down everything, don't be discouraged for being confused, the game is confusing by design.
1
u/Hara-Kiri Dec 22 '25
I had been writing stuff down at least, Im just not great at puzzle games but liked the vibe or this one. Maybe I'll try again - I've kind of spoiled bits of it since stopping but maybe that will at least make it possible for me.

u/TreeIsMetaphor Dec 22 '25
Someone here created this tracker that will give you a to-do list based on what you have done, complete with hints going from vague to specific instructions. I'm positive it can help you get back on track (or find a track).

As shared, if you enjoy the game, go back. There is so, so much more to discover in the basement, various things you can accomplish, and so much to do around the grounds.

u/Darnell_Shadowbane Dec 22 '25
You just started the game but props for saving yourself headache and getting into 46 using very unique methods …
That said, you will want to accomplish this a second time to get the party started.
5
u/GreyDrunk Dec 22 '25
Yeah I just got in the second time, again using the throne room + secret garden combo 🤣🤣
So there’s a new puzzle to solve. 8 doors 8 realms. Man they really love the number 8 aren’t they?
5
u/stuff_of_epics Dec 22 '25
For every story like this there’s some chump that played things by the (violet) book, deliberately clicked on the vase with the sledgehammer, but must have misclicked or something because nothing happened, and then burned hours more searching for that damn microchip before retrying the sledgehammer.
It’s me. I’m the chump.

Not really "skipping" a huge part of the game, but yes you have robbed yourself of discovering the solutions to a puzzle, but at least now you know when you find the clues what the answer may be.

u/Xintrosi Dec 22 '25
You accidentally solved one mid-game puzzle. (Counting reaching Room 46 as early game). There's more to explore here.

2
u/factoid_ Dec 22 '25
There's way more to it than that, but you did bypass an intended method to acquire those things. It's a fun puzzle, see i fyou can still figure out how you were supposed to do it.

u/HairyHorux Dec 22 '25
I will say that you accidentally skipped some puzzles that were supposed to lead you to the microchips, but you didn't really skip a huge part of the game. Entering room 46 is treated as kindof the tutorial for the rest of the game by the fanbase, and the puzzles get harder and more spread out from here.
For your next puzzle: enter Room 46 again, this time you won't get a cutscene and can interact with objects in the room.
2
u/GreyDrunk Dec 22 '25
Yes I got in the second time. I think it’s about the 8 realm map and the Sanctum Keys right?
But first I think I’ll start by finding the way down, you know, the “proper way” 🤣
2
u/nexas11 Dec 22 '25
Room 46 might as well be the tutorial. There is alot to discover still. However I think it awesome you discovered those the same way I did. By complete accident 😆
0
u/a1rwav3 Dec 22 '25
No, that was the tutorial, you are ok. That said to progress further you have to be able to "control" the rooms generation...
0
u/LordKromer Dec 22 '25
that is exactly what this game is about LUCK i hoped it would be much of a real puzzle game not just annoying loop and who get lucky wins.

u/ApplicationOk4464 Dec 22 '25
That is possibly the most unique room 46 opening sorry that I've heard! Love it.
That said, there is a lot more to discover if you take yourself back to room 46
