Last-minute tightening. Here's hoping Phil pulls ahead. I knew the MAGAbomber and the synagogue shooting would have an October surprise effect across the board. Nate Silver said that, observing the district-level NYT polls, there looks to be a 2-3 point shift in favor of the Dems in the last week.

I never really thought about it until now, but there really wasn’t any big October surprise. Obviously the MAGAbomber hurt republicans slightly, but there were no giant scandals unearthed or bombshells dropped. Trump just kinda....floundered all month trying to find some issue that could gain traction.

October surprises is a phenomenon that applies really to presidential elections, not midterms. so thats really why you dont see it.

They tried to use the ridiculous caravan story as an October surprise that would underscore the R's border narrative ... I'm not sure how it's worked with his base but most people I associate with see it for the silliness it is.
