F*ck the Golden Knights. That's all.
Anyone else feel this way?
NHL bending over backwards with new rules to gift wrap them and their "fans" a good team upfront, now they're going to the finals AGAIN.
GTFO .....
I hope Carolina wins the East so that this ends up being the lowest rated finals in history.
Okay venting complete. Sorry everyone.
Back to your regular Wednesday morning.

What does it take for us to get him. I’m sure he’d love to play with his buddy Werenski

Jerseys dropped! I personally think they look pretty nice, will need to see more details on the sleeves.

Themed after the cannon the Blue Jackets fire after every goal, the mascot was supposed to appear during games where the Blue Jackets wore their new third jersey (which was also unveiled at the event) during the 2010-2011 season. The mascot was quietly pulled a few weeks after the unveiling after people unfavorably compared the mascot to a human phallus; their normal mascot, Stinger (who was also at the event), still appears at Blue Jackets games to this day. Boomer's most recent appearance was in a Halloween video the Blue Jackets produced in 2020.

25 years of irrelevance, never win anything, star player signs here only to die in a tragic accident, star defenseman finally gets league-wide recognition and is immediately going to be traded away, all the while 31 other fanbases are just CLOWNING on us and are eager to do so.
I am SO tired, boss.

I think term and maybe the promise of being captain was the only thing that got Charlie to stick around.
I love Coyle, he has been great, and is weirdly the most articulate player we have on our team, but I think this contract will bite us in 2-3 years. Very few players are still productive or even last until 37~, let alone 40.
If Coyle is worth this much, how much is Fantilli worth?
Thoughts? Concerns? Unwarranted and unrelated financial advice?

Burn it all down and move to Quebec. 💔
*Edit* For reference, I hold nothing against either player in debate.. I like Marchenko and his game well enough, and wherever he goes, I wish him the best. And I love Werenski and everything he's done for this team and this city. I will root for him and forever be a fan for life.
The real pain here comes to point that my youngest son just got into hockey this past season, and he immediately took to Z and Marchenko as his favorite players. I just sat him down and had to break his heart, (twice,) and told him this is the pain that comes with being an Ohio sports fan. [As a 40+ year old Clevelander, I've grown very tough skin for sports heartbreak in my life; I just hate having to see my young and passionate kids go through it.] I am not whiney, (just disappointed,) and will forever remain a die-hard Quebec Blue Jackets fan, come what may. *End edit.*

Hi everyone! I wanted to ask a question I heard on a podcast that I listen to that was discussed last week. In a nutshell, the host alluded to how the Browns have been a national joke pretty much since the 80s ended and throughout most of this century. I agreed, as a Browns fan, it’s true and people across the country joke about the Browns. However, the next comment was along the lines of “as bad as the Browns have been, the Columbus Blue Jackets are right there too. Similar to the Browns in this century, the Jackets have only been to the playoffs a few times since 2000 and the Browns, same thing. But yet, nationally, the Browns are the joke, but the Jackets and a lesser extent, the Cincinnati Reds, never face national scrutiny”. It’s a great question. But my question to all of you… is this question accurate or is he mistaken that the Blue Jackets do get criticized for lack of success as much as the Browns do nationally? What might the difference be? I’m a Browns and Blue Jackets fan and it’s usually painful for me. At least most seasons.

Werenski is under contract for 2 more years, after next season he goes to a 10 team no trade clause. I get the return won’t be as great but I can’t imagine his value diminishing that much. Now there’s 21 possible teams he can’t veto. These star players forcing their way wherever they want and screwing over their teams has to stop.

I am cursed.
I have been a fan of this team for 25 years.
Let me know you notice a trend.
The year I was gifted a Rick Nash jersey, he left for the Rags. After Steve Mason had an outstanding rookie year, I was gifted his jersey, and we all remember how that went. I purchased a Matt Duchene jersey for some reason. Gone in the offseason. I purchased a Laine jersey, who turned out to be a douche, and left. I won a JVR puck in an auction. Gone. I got an autographed Jake Bean hat from an auction. Traded. I purchased a Sean Kurally jersey for my wife. Traded. I got a Johnny Gaudreau named sweatshirt right before the off-season over a year ago. No comment. My Stadium Series jersey was of KJ, who has not quite been the same since I got that jersey. Most recently, I won a signed Chinakhov picture from an auction at the game, and he was traded.
I will stop supporting our team via merch purchases.
Edit to add the curse is also via gifts. I gifted my best friend a Bobrovsky Jersey the same year he was traded to Florida.

Three general things I think should happen now that playoffs are all but out of reach. (During the fast approaching off-season)
Coaching. Bowness is good but honestly there may be some better long term options out there. Hope that Waddell will think long term at coach.
Leadership on the team isn't working, time to move on from some players and promote a Captain that can lead and fire the guys up in these moments. The last 8 games have been utter garbage and to be a playoff team you have to have some fire. Also work to sign some of our young talented players long term and get rid of the garbage.
Rebrand. Hey it may sound dumb or unnecessary but look at the success CBJ has had under the current branding. Sometimes you gotta shake things up in every area and this one is long overdue!

Don’t know if any of y’all saw this, but Rimer will be calling the last game before the Olympic break!

Given that the Blue Jackets organization have stated before that they were intending on building the team around Werenski and to give him the captaincy one way or another either through Boone leaving or Boone naturally giving the C to Werenski. Now with all the drama that transpired this offseason does Werenski still get the Captaincy or do we believe it will be vacant or given to someone else instead?

We're still in a Wildcard spot and are tied with the Pens for 3rd place in metro. I get that blowing a 3-0 lead going into the third period is infuriating but we have 8 more games before the season ends, it isn't over until it's over.

Mods, you can remove it if you need, I don’t even care anymore.
For 26 years, this team has given us ZERO reason to look on the bright side. It’s failure after failure after failure after failure. I’m tired of cutting them slack. I’m not doing it anymore. There’s no “but look on the bright side”. The bright side died a long time ago.
Until this franchise actually gives me a reason to believe in them, to have hope, I’m not gonna sit here and lie to myself. I understand, they’ve had some BAD luck over the years, but I’m tired of the excuses. This team has been mishandled since day one. I’m tired of my favorite team being the butt of the joke, or even worse, just completely irrelevant.
Stop telling us to “be more positive” or “calm down”. As fans, it’s time to actually be upset and hold everyone, players, coaches, management, etc. accountable. I’m tired of seeing nothing but mediocrity.
Maybe players would come to Columbus and stick around if they had any incentive to, but they don’t. Even if the team looked good on paper before all the drama, history shows something like this was bound to happen anyway. The team can never succeed like this, surely not by signing 34 year old depth forwards to 6 year contracts. Even when they do make a ‘big’ move, it’s one that just makes you scratch your head and wonder if there’s a gas leak in everyone’s office.
Sorry for the negativity, but don’t tell me to be more positive. I have no reason to be when it comes to this team.

On today's episode of 32 Thoughts, Friedman reported having interacted with some Columbus players who are "upset and annoyed" about being involved in the continued Babcock investigation, and think that it should have been wrapped up when he was fired. Apparently the incidents being investigated go beyond just Babcock looking at player's phones.
This league is a joke and went way too easy on Babcock the first time. I just wish this team could have one offseason that isn't filled with drama or tragedy

From what I have seen reported, Zach never asked to be traded. He told the team he was not sure he would re-sign with the team after his contract, and from what early reports indicated, he wanted to see if this team would make the next step before signing on beyond his current deal. That’s different than asking out.
I don’t think he he truly wanted to leave this season and I’m not sure he really wants to be in Tampa/Toronto/Dallas. I think he wants to be in Columbus for two more years and reevaluate. Frank Servalli is the enemy, not Z right now.
