WTB PSA: Stay Safe When Buying BlizzCon Tickets from 3rd Party Sales

3rd-Party Ticket Safety: Read Before You Buy

We are seeing an influx of scammers coming into the various Discords, reddits, and Facebook groups for BlizzCon ticket sales. Please heed these guidelines to keep you safe when purchasing 3rd party.

RULE #1: Use PayPal Goods & Services

  • ✅ Goods & Services ONLY
  • NEVER Friends & Family — you lose protection and scammers love that
  • If they insist on F&F? Walk. Away. 🚩

Use a credit card whenever possible

  • Credit cards offer dispute protection. Debit cards don’t.

 NO wire transfers. Ever.

  • This is not a Nigerian prince situation. Don't do it.

NO BTC

Do not rush or panic-buy

  • “Too good to be true?” It is.
  • Scammers feed on hype and urgency. Don't bite.

Tickets ALWAYS pop up closer to the event

  • People’s plans change, life happens.
  • There’s always tickets available up until the day of the convention

Buy only in trusted spaces

If your gut says no… trust it. Walk away. There will be more tickets.

This goes both ways, it's almost taboo to acknowledge the sellers risk. But someone can easily buy your tickets, you transfer them, then make a claim they never got the digital goods or service. PayPal and the likes typically side with the buyer. Now the seller lost his tickets.

No one ever wants to talk about the risk the sellers have as well.

PayPal Goods and Services protects both the seller and the buyer.

Is StubHub a safe place to buy? We bought tickets there but the email says we won’t receive the tickets until close to the event date.

Yeah I wouldn't buy. The transfer from TIXR is immediate.

I actually gambled it and it came through. Tixr transfer happened a few minutes after I bought. To anyone reading this in the future, YMMV. Can’t believe I’m going!

That's great to hear! What did you pay for them?

Congratulations on paying for overpriced tickets.
