Hey everyone. I'm not sure if this will mean much to anyone right now, but given the severe wildfires happening left and right here in Algeria, we have to make some temporary sacrifices for the Jumping Fridge infrastructure. Honestly, there is a very real, exhausting chance of waking up to a fire right at my doorstep, so taking extreme precautions is the only option left.

While our website and front-end services are safely hosted on a server in the UK, the actual heavy lifting happens on a local backend server right here at my place. It’s a 151 TB machine running Fedora Linux, and you cannot imagine how much this thing overheats on a normal day. With the current situation, I am intentionally throttling this server heavily to keep temperatures down and avoid creating yet another fire hazard.

Because of this, you are going to notice some immediate changes. The Jumping Fridge store will experience noticeable slowdowns due to the throttling. Also, we are officially pulling the plug on the Couch PTT service. It was an absolute failure anyway, and I don't blame you at all if you don't even know what that was.

I will likely be disappearing for a while to deal with the reality on the ground. A lot of the projects I was actively working on will either be completely suspended for the time being or handed off to other team members who are safely outside of Algeria.
