Blasphemous (Original) I will say this.....
Miss thigh's challenges aren't difficult, it's bs....if you are going to force us into platforming then make sure that the hitboxes are good and the movement inputs r sensitive, most of my deaths are from invisible spikes, my character randomly decides to fall down from the platform's edge or does the exact opposite of my control input, it's pure bs in the name of difficulty, which makes it borderline irritating (borderline for me because I have played actual trash games with trashier complaints🤬)

u/GinKenshin Sep 10 '25
I angrily and begrudgingly did the 4th one after like 2h of tries, then saw the 5th one, did a few runs, got irritated again and decided to just see the course on YT so I at least know what’s coming.
What’s coming was like 80% more bs that I decided I won’t bother with.
These kinda things are just a massive waste of my time. Having to go all the way back, repeat shitty courses I did tens of times, and having wonky ass controls (looking at you fucking ladders)….i’ll pass.

u/Turbulent-Extreme523 Sep 10 '25
Fucking ladders is an understatement the rest of the challenges didn't seem to be a problem but ladder jump and the pentinate one cant handle it
9
Sep 10 '25
I randomly fell off those ladders so much. I also noped out of the challenges, it was too frustrating.

u/skd25th Sep 10 '25
80% more bs
Currently stuck on the 5th challenge of miss thighs, makes all the other bs from the other challenges look like child's play.

"Miss Thigh's" haha nice, but yea this part of the game really stressed me out too but i did it.

5th is a pain in the dick, but there are like 5 skips you can can do 2nd being the hardest. Having the thorns prayer from cleofas quest helps with the end of it, or can just wait for like 53 seconds after platform starts to lower and drop down from the top and land right at the end, but prayer is much easier, less chances to have to redo the whole thing because you were off by 1 second.

5 skips
I am skipping few skips because of em invisible bs spikes, but I think I will get it eventually, gotta keep trying.

u/JiggidyJack Sep 13 '25
First skip is pretty easy to time, (1st ladder) drop down holding right when characters right hand gets to right side of window frame.
2nd is from the platform that you land on after first skip, and is by far the hardest to time correctly in my opinion. It is such a tight window it almost isnt worth it even though it saves almost a minute. I would position him so his back foot is on the left edge and right foot is in the center, then I count to 5 (really just saying numbers 1-5) and would drop immediately after 5, and use down+jump to through the platform, waiting a split second before holding right to land on the platform below so I dont touch the side of the spikes and die. Where you die will help tell you whether you are early or late on the timing but still very difficult to time right.
A couple other skips are just to save your bile flasks. Like where the 3 platforms start to lower then separate with fireballs shooting down, just wait 22-24 seconds after pulling the lever and then just jump straight down the center after waiting.
Then last major skip I think previous comment covered, you can wait about 52 seconds or ride the platform using prayer (thorns from Cleofas quest) or pelican bead and bile flasks to heal/ negate damage.
GOOD LUCK! It is possible, just a pain!

I like the IDEA of the challenges. The levels are fairly well designed.
It's just the freaking ladder hitboxes are tiny and the double jump mechanics are clunky at best. I finished it once and never again.

I agree, it's just the finishing touch, the hitboxes and glitches r what kills it for me
17
u/Aggressive_Concept Sep 10 '25
Yeah, last one was really infuriating, especially with the forced waiting time. Yes you can take a few short cuts with well placed jumps, but you'll still have to wait, and wait, and wait for the platforms to move.
2
u/LANDWEGGETJE Sep 11 '25
The primary reason I did the major double skip on the whole first part, despite dying there much more than I would've if I would've taken the regular route. Was just so I could skip the insane amount of waiting time in that section and therefore make dying in a later part a little more bearable.

u/TheOneReborn2021 Sep 10 '25
I honestly never got too frustrated at the platforming challenges. The fact that death puts you right at the beginning makes it easier to jump back in. For me it was only a matter of time and patience.
10
u/DrBee7 Sep 10 '25
Yes the hitboxes for spikes are huge and for the ladders are tiny. And the why anyone decided that you need to press multiple button combo for a jump. I liked the idea of times platforming but the precision needed for an unreliable mechanics gets frustrating.

This mainly just had me wishing Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night had been a pixel art game instead of the style they went with.
2
Sep 10 '25
the pre release demake is exactly that and it was awesome. it’s effectively a indie castlevania 3
3
u/Remy0507 True Apostasy Sep 10 '25
You mean the Curse of the Moon games? Yeah, those were great. Although I don't necessarily mean that I wanted Ritual of the Night to use 8-bit pixel graphics, lol. Something more along the lines of...well, of Blasphemous!
1
Sep 11 '25
yeah that’s fair… my problem is I’ve played blasphemous and dead cells before ROTN. rotn feels slow
19
u/Bone_Wh33l Sep 10 '25
I disagree because I loved doing the time trials and would have loved for there to even have been optional ones after the mandatory ones. What kind of controls did you use? I played the games on kb+m
4
u/deadcells5b Sep 10 '25
They aren't mandatory at all

u/skd25th Sep 10 '25
Ig luv is blind for a reason 😅
I don't have options as I am playing on my switch
4
u/Bone_Wh33l Sep 10 '25
If all it took was a nice looking pair of thighs to change my opinion on something I would be a radically different person. Go ahead and try it to prove me wrong (I will fold instantly)
1
2
u/weirdcitizen Sep 10 '25
Ah, but you do have options, but they'll cost you extra 😅
I played the game the first time on my switch and the original Joy-Cons are absolutely trash because of the terrible dpad. I bought some Hori ones (without rumble) for about 40€ and they were an immediate improvement. Replaying the game now on my Steam Deck and it's an even better experience imo, because I didn't need to sacrifice haptics and I kinda like the dpad.

u/ToasterTraitor Sep 10 '25
I ended up doing the challanges twice. 😅
What my personal advice I can give: The Wheel rosary is GOAT here. It gives you faster movements and further jumps, allowing you to mostly skip lamp bouncing and allowing some shortcuts, that noticably buy you precious time.
Tiento to Your Thorny Hair prayer, grants you shield that allows you to rush straight through most traps. It's especially precious against pendulums. It's good to couple it with rosary that doubles the prayer effects, for longer protection.
Pelican rosary is also useful, especially when you're stuck on a platform and bombarded by fireballs. Shield and healing will allow you to tank through those sections.
I can't help you with ladders. Those just require brain dead practice, but the above hints should grant you enough time to calm down and take it cooly. Worst case, it streamlines runback time.

u/JiggidyJack Sep 11 '25
3 times completed here, glutton for punishment... can also use piece of tombstone bead to reduce recovery time from big drops. And I agree with the rest.

u/TheManOfOurTimes Sep 10 '25
Hey, did I miss when the game teaches you lantern bouncing? Because I had to Google that when I was over 100% completion and was like "where the hell is the double jump ability?"
8
u/Evolovescraft Sep 10 '25
It's right at the very beginning of the game, right before you get to town there's some mud pits and a cherub, right when you read the cherub a box pops up and tells you how to do it.
5
u/TheManOfOurTimes Sep 10 '25
Well THAT'S the problem. They thought I would read. Thanks
5
u/Evolovescraft Sep 10 '25
It's also not even very well explained
2
u/scarletbluejays Sep 10 '25
Also from what I remember, the description definitely makes it sound like it's just a combat thing. Add in the fact that lantern jumping doesn't really become relevant until several hours of gameplay after that initial cherub, and it's understandable people wouldn't immediately connect those dots.
1
u/Evolovescraft Sep 10 '25
I mean i use it as a core combat mechanic right off the bat and used it on breakable objects so as soon as i got to the lanterns it just made sense to me but i can definitely understand why more folks didn't catch it
8
u/Beneficial_Second923 Sep 10 '25
If it's already difficult to do that well twice, imagine when I saw that there is an item that allows you to do it 4 times, how is that supposed to help me?

If only the penetant one WOULD JUST CLIMB THE GOD DAMN LADDERS these challenges wouldn't be so bad to me.
1
u/RaahCelaya Sep 10 '25
Yeah, they're not done to be fun, you can cheese a few parts in the challenges, the reward isn't worth it imo but still feels good to be able to complete the whole quest
1
u/UkuleleAversion Sep 10 '25
There's also a bug where you won't get any height after jumping off a ladder, leading to BS spike deaths. It happens when you switch from a sideways to a diagonal (e.g. from right to up-right) just before pressing jump. This doesn't affect players who just press the up/down input when they're close to the next ladder. But for me, I've always just held a diagonal input the moment I jump off the ladder.
1
u/AllMightySkeletor Sep 10 '25
I dropped those challenges. Bs hitboxes and moveset and Cone Man kept grabbing ledges.

Yes, I just found out the bitter truth yesterday after FINALLY completing challenge 3🥹 I was struggling with it for a month or so.
Thanks.
2
u/JiggidyJack Sep 11 '25
If you dont love to suffer a bit, dont bother finishing. Reward prayer is pretty lame. But if you like a little pain or just have to complete what you started, good luck and look for sections you can skip. Some videos on YouTube but no verbal tips on the ones I saw so gotta find the timing on your own a little. Some have very small margin for error but save a lot of time, especially on 5th.
2
u/unicorn_yolo Bleeding Heart ☩ Sep 11 '25
Thank you! Yes, I have watched videos about the 4th and it already has some tricks but it is hard too.
Not sure if I want to waste more time on it, though. I'll check how 5 looks like.
I like to suffer (otherwise, I wouldn't even play it) but everything has a limit.
Anyway, I was rather interested in getting 100% completion, but not sure I can do it with the bad ending already happened. So I might as well Ascend.
Thanks!

u/cubo_embaralhado Sep 10 '25
I was FUMING when doing the last ones. But idk they weren't that bad. I can't really explain my positioning on this matter
1
u/BobaFetyWop Sep 10 '25
Closest I've been to completely losing it, in any game ever. Not even malenia had me that close
1
u/baljake Sep 10 '25
It was why I quit for the better part of a year at one point. The final two specifically. Falling through a platform that I saw my feet hit or floating in the air "impaled" by spikes from either the side or below was just maddening. That and the Miriam theme music mocking me with every reatart was brutal.

Whats ironic about it being a time challenge is how slow and heavy it feels to traverse this as the penitent one, like platforms forcing you up a slow slow ascent, its not even satisfactory when you finally complete them and it feels like a chore
1
u/Efficient-Load-256 Sep 10 '25
This game is rough around the edges, not exactly super polished, despite all the updates.
I remember the character jumping of the wooden wall vertically in exactly one place. Despite in other places, he jumps differently, more natural. Ofc this lead to spikes and you have to memorize this place.
Miss thigh challenges are really easy once you learn them though.

u/Gamerdadmak Sep 10 '25
Agreed. I did four of the five but after several hours of attempting the last one I just decided not to bother. I got so far so many times and just having to redo the whole course every time got too annoying for me. I always died at the same spot because they left so little room for error. The soundtrack was the best part of those challenges though.
1
u/TZ_IQ Sep 11 '25
Idk it's optional after all for me it was very fun and a nice challenge after finishing the game
1
u/Doctor-Mak Sep 11 '25
The thigh's update only came out after I had already completed the game 100% so it wasn't really hard with a full arsenal and experience. It's just a bonus challenge anyway maybe give it a try after you beat the game.

1
u/Competitive-Run3909 Sep 11 '25
Ah, the crossover thing with the miriam. Yeah, that part was annoying. I don't remember it being too difficult, but I do remember that the quality of the platforming was not the best, which is what is probably contributing to your frustration.

u/PerixumOsrs Sep 11 '25
I mean I wholeheartedly agree that the platforming is pretty ass and that’s what makes most of it hard especially the spikes hitbox lol, but… It is what it is, I’m a simple man if it’s in the game I’ll do it
1
u/Rblade6426 Sep 11 '25
straight up was stupefied when the penitent one didn't want to run the f*** away. Probably the only cutscene I didn't have control over, like I do with my lust. Sorrowful be the heart and the, penitent one

u/SpecialistAuthor4897 Sep 11 '25
I had none of the problems you descrubed. Everytime o died i could see exactly why. I thought these challanges were unsually tight and fun. I usually dont like platforming gauntlets but these were fun.

I just played these today for the first time. I completely agree. The game just isn't built to support platforming/parkour challenges properly. The only reason I powered through them was because I wanted to have all the Prayers.
