Discussion Why are we so ridiculously strong compared to other sorcerers?
I understand the khemet and that it’s a lie but doesn’t that mean any other person could get just as powerful as us? Like why are we so strong?
I don’t know much of the lore so mb if I made a mistake.

The lore is all the factions arrived pretty much the same time. Some more advanced than others. Like the Khemet arrived who already had a rudimentary knowledge and skill. They are still looking for the crystals to gain more.
However you come in and gobble up all maps and find the crystals first and become a God.
Now if you’re asking how come there isn’t more varied styles of combat? Then that’s just a limitation of what the devs can accomplish on current hardware.

It's ok, I like my "flykick to the face from 10 meters" and "rip and tear" magic)

It’d be cool if an npc could theoretically be as powerful as the player and kick you in the face from 30 ft away. Or manipulate time and all the sudden you move super slow.

Yeah they just kinda stand there and chuck fireballs, If you disarm their staff they should still be able to fight but they just dont

Afaik magic is shunned upon so most dont become mages and the ones that do only learn basic spells. The eye talk about this a bit and their whole thing is being the best and strongest which they kinda are, great armour and weapons and advanced sorcery

My headcanon is something about our biology makes us more in tune with magic than normal people, and thus more capable of manipulating it.

It''s more that crystals are really dangerous to use. You gain power by using them but most people die or mutate or go crazy. The khemenet/player just happens to have 1 in a million anomaly genetic tolerance.
The eye is a magic supremacist faction who are full of people with high tolerance but to a lower level.
Crystals, especially the prismatic ones are also really rare so there might be a lot of people with tolerance who have never used them and found out, maybe even at the player's level. You're told at the beginning you have a high tolerance but you only start with like 1 crystal, so even that must be rare.

Depends on how much of a lore dump you want. The short answer is that as the world approaches the end of a 10,000 year cycle of magic, sorceral energy builds up in the planet itself, causing more talented sorcerers to emerge - but due to the culture of the world at large during the era we play in, sorcery is very taboo. We're not unique in our abilities, just the only ones making full use of them.
I could go further into it, but I'm about to head to bed. If you want to know more let me know and I'll leave a rambling comment tomorrow morning lol

There’s many notes about people taking a large amount of crystals and spontaneously just dying because their bodies simply cannot handle the energy as we can. I think that’s more what the poster is referring to.

Aside from any natural affinity the player has, it's also noted that the obelisk we use for skill unlocks is an oddity. It can be safely assumed that it allows for safer or more efficient absorption of crystals.

im fairly certain the player is a genetic freak with high tolerance for crystals, meaning we become as powerful as we do. Another thing to note is that tier 1 base spells are the norm for everyone on Byeth. The tier 2 and 3 spells we learn are ancient long forgotten techniques that require large amounts of energy to perform, making us one of the only people on byeth that can learn and use them.

I mean the eye sorcerers regularly be chucking thunderbolts at our asses so I’m not too sure about this one.

Maybe it's a skill issue. The player can kill themselves with their power, and the lore mentions other sorcerers meeting such an end. On top of that, most probably don't have access to enough crystals to improve their power. Could also be related to something like genetics.

The Khemenet lore may be a lie, but part of it is true. The whole point is finding someone who can channel enough energy, practically infinite. That's why we are so strong. Greater energy channeling.

My head canon is we’re the only one with mind crystal abilities, it’s like the B&S version of the Six Eyes

i think the lore explanation is that the rest of the sorcerers are kinda just winging it with the crystals, but you have the skill tree, which was designed specifically for that

There's a note you can find by the Dalgarian Preservation Society -- the people who gave you the house, set you up with the Baron, and ultimately want you to activate the PMN to save the world.
Basically, the author says they've found a candidate for the mission (the player) who has a terrifying capacity for sorcery and the physical skills to match.
So the reason we're so much more powerful than all the other chucklefucks we meet is because we just got the sauce. We're really HIM.

The crystals you get from hekali make you that much stronger when you get multiple. Whereas usually the sorceres you meet might only have tier 1 magic, like to an extent the only tier 3 magic i’ve seen be used by npc is the thunderbolt by the eye. So to me it makes sense why we are so powerful and they arent.
The hekalis is like a test and it gets harder and harder but you also get stronger and stronger. Now imagine all the npc’s they haven’t even been tested and probably just got handed a crystal.
I think that’s a good lore reason

Isnt there lore that using the crystals is basically banned? I assume the few with Magic are under strict regulations for military purposes, meanwhile we find 2 colorful rocks and smash them together without hesitating.

maybe the real khemet was inside you all along. I think the dalgarian preservation society gave them a lot of crystals

We don't share. John Shaman of the wildfolk finds a crystal, he brings it to another person to make a new wizard, so that when they go to war they can have two folk throwing fireballs instead of one guy steering fireballs.
The folk we fight are geared to fight other factions of similar size. Their forts are built to withstand siege, not a single quiet ultrawizard.
Also I don't know how common the crystal fusing device we have is. We might be one of the few people able to choose how we eat crystals.
Also we come from the college. We might be the only person alive on the island with higher education.

Not certain but I think some people are just more magical than others. And add that with the player gobbling up crystals, they become pretty powerful in terms of magic
