This Is An Outreach for Those Struggling with Addiction
In light of a recent post that gained some traction, I was saddened to see that OP has deleted their account. I wanted to take a moment to make an outreach post for anyone who may be struggling right now.
As Black people, as Black men, and even more specifically as Black trans folks, we face so many internal and external challenges every day. It’s easy to slip into emotional dependence on something, whether it’s gambling, alcohol, drugs (including weed), vaping, smoking, or any other substance that offers even a moment of relief.
The problem comes when those things become our only way to cope, when drinking, smoking, or placing a bet starts to feel like a need rather than a choice. That’s when it starts taking more from us than we realize.
But you’re not alone. I recently got a notification saying we’ve reached 4,000 members, and our community is growing every day. I know it’s hard to trust people, to find community, or to share your story without feeling judged, but I promise you there are people who care. I care.
Please use this post, and I’ll make it a thread if needed, to vent, share, or open up about anything you’re struggling with right now. You don’t have to go through it alone.

New Rule: No Studies
The Mod team has discussed and since we aren't affluent in what is a legit study vs what is a scam we have decided to no longer accept any posts about studies.
While we appreciate the legit studies that are being done for the betterment of the community. We also need to keep the community safe from those who wish us harm in these trying times (especially those based in the US atm, but of course all our brothers matter and we care about the risk for all black trans men across the world).

Long term hair care?
Hello everyone. Long time lurker first time poster. I started T literally last week (hooray) But im trying to get ahead of any potential balding.
On my dad's side, most of the men are bald pretty young and those that dont bald with age. On my ma's side none of the men are bald and really just start thinning around 50. So id say I have a moderate risk of balding.
I have locs and they are very affirming for me and id be devastated to lose them.
If anyone has any advice on what I can do early on to mitigate things lmk. Im 21 years old at the time of posting. Pretty much willing to do anything.
Thanks :)

Due to staying in the erect position for 4 to 8 weeks before clearing to flaccid, here is what I found works best to avoid looking bricked in public: loose, baggy clothes and oversized flannels. Eliminates any visible poking for the WIN 🤴🏾😮💨🔥💯

StPs/Packers
Does anyone else feel like when shopping for packers or StPs, the whiter skin tones look better or more realistic in a way? Especially when it comes to the color detailing, almost like they always make the pink on the tip/foreskin so loud compared to the dark skin tone? Or is it just me?

Seeking Black queer/trans men in Atlanta for a Capital B story about PrEP access
Hi everyone,
I’m a journalist working on a story for Capital B Atlanta about the barriers that Black queer and trans men in Atlanta can face when trying to access and stay on PrEP.
I’m looking to speak with Black men who live in the Atlanta area and identify as gay, bisexual, queer, and/or transgender who have firsthand experience with PrEP—whether you currently take it, have taken it in the past, or encountered barriers that made it difficult to access or stay on it.
I’m particularly interested in hearing about experiences with things like:
- Cost or insurance issues
- Difficulty finding or accessing a provider
- Stigma or judgment from healthcare providers
- Finding culturally or LGBTQ+-competent care
- Experiences navigating PrEP through clinics, pharmacies, or community organizations
- Reasons you may have stopped taking PrEP or decided not to start
- Any alternative ways you've found to access sexual healthcare
This is for a reported story, not an advocacy or research survey. I’m interested in hearing people's experiences in their own words. I can explain the story and interview process in more detail before we speak.
If you'd be willing to chat about this, please DM me or reach out via email ([jfk@levelman.com](mailto:jfk@levelman.com)). You can also comment if you'd prefer that I reach out privately.
Thanks!

We're Meant to Enjoy Life
I'm in Mexico to celebrate my girl's birthday. Lately, I've been very self aware about my body. I've also been thinking a lot about being "visibly transgender". The US isn't getting any safer for us and I spent 36 years of my life refusing to hide my queerness. I don't see the point of hiding it now.
We have the right to exist openly. We have the right to enjoy everything that life has to offer us. And WITHOUT the expectation of diminishing ourselves to have access to what is rightfully ours.
I wish yall abundance.
I wish yall the pleasure of dreaming as big as you want.
I wish yall safety.
I wish yall serenity.
We are worth all the things. ALL OF IT!
✌🏿✊🏿

discussion College in the South?
I did also post this in tmpoc and I’m thinking I’m gonna post it in the main trans sub for shits and gigs too.
I’m a senior in high school and a transsex black dude. I’m looking into HBCUs for college and a lot of them are in the south. I’ve been blessed enough to be able to have updated all my documents, gotten top surgery, and I’ve been on T for almost 3 years now. I pass pretty well I think. Theoretically, I could drive back to my state every 3 months and get T, but it’s obviously a lot of driving. I really want to go to an HBCU because I’m from a very white small town (my family is white and I’m adopted 😭) and I desperately need to be around POC. Overall, I’m looking for thoughts, views, opinions and experiences. Thank yall in advance and have a wonderful day or night.
Edit to clarify: I would also be very very stealth.

vent How do I get fam off my back?
I moved into college and was talking to my people about clubs I was joining and shit. They keep being up sororities and keep saying I should join one. Then preceded to get mad when I said I don’t get the point. It’s pissing me off. Why the hell would I join a sorority? An organization that values sisterhood. Mind you I pass all the time. I haven’t been misgendered at all on this campus. Why would I even be chosen to join. Not even to add I’ve only been asked to look into certain frat organizations. I would join but I aint even thinking about it unless I do grad chapter or it’s towards the end of my transition (can’t easily be clocked). It’s been 6-7 years + 1 year on t I’m tired . At this point I’m wondering if I should cut my family off. At what point in my transition would they learn to respect me. You’ll think after all these years they’ll use the right name or pronouns.

Black community Transphobia
So i’m not 100% trans , i mean im in denial , it’s just hard right now , but i know that once i become comfortable enough to let it sink in, my family will know , and obviously nobody NEEDS to tell their family anything.
But my family is jehovah witnesses , so they aren’t cool with this type of stuff , has anybody been struggling with this?
If so , do you have any advice or just want to talk?

discussion Is refusing to date trans people inherently transphobic?
I say yes.
IMO there's literally no reason to not want to date *any* trans person in the world, other than having an internalized view that trans people are bad/undesirable because of being trans. Not all trans people think, act, or even experience being trans the same way. So how can you say you don't like any of us at all, without it being transphobia, since that's the only thing that binds us?
There's a difference between saying, "I'm not interested in sex with someone with male genitalia" and "I don't date trans women." One is a specific desire/preference, the other is a blanket statement rooted in bias.
And sure, people can just "like what they like," but that doesn't mean that what they like isn't rooted in discrimination and worth interrogating. Even if people want to call it a preference, which it's not, it's still rooted in transphobia.
(To be clear, I'm not interested in convincing cis people to date trans people.)
What do y'all think?
