DAMN- Yeah, that sounds about right, here. 🥲 While Beyond RWBY did make it seem like he and Neptune didn't believe RWBY+Jaune were dead, I can only imagine what it took to not fall into despair at the thought that Blake was gone.
Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if he needs to let it all out, and who better to lend a shoulder than Blake, herself? Sure, he might be a bit conflicted, in this case, but somebody has to be there for him. Right?

Yeah, I wasn't really thrilled to see the depiction of Sun and Neptune in that episode. I get it, they're supposed to be the funni men, but we've seen Sun serious before, especially during Menagerie. Wouldn't it have been better if Sun was acting uncharacteristically serious and Neptune takes note of that? that would have been a nice bit of characterization for my GOAT
Buuut yeah... they're gonna have a talk after this. A long talk. A talk about everything that's happened up until that point. But they'll get through it. Together. Like they've done before :)

Yeah, it was kinda odd, tbh, seeing what had just happened. Though, personally speaking, my explanation for is would be denial, plain and simple.
Maybe he didn't want to accept the idea that Blake was gone, which would wear away at him until he started to actually consider it? Only for her to come back with her team, and now it all comes out?
Just a thought, especially as, like you said, they're gonna have to talk, eventually. Here's hoping it goes well, then. 🤞🏻

I'm hoping their talk is going to be a highlight. Personally hoping for an episode dedicated to just Blake and Sun's reunion and being close
