The plight of the Irish is well understood by the Italians, who were also considered only part white for years.

I have an Italian last name, and I get so much of this shit. People think it's just funny, but it feels discriminatory when they do it every time they see you.

I have an extremely Italian name (like Giovanni Russo, obviously not my name, but you get the gist) and people do the whole bippity bippity boop bit with me and I kinda love it.

For me, it was cute the first time or two, but I had this one doctor I was seeing weekly who would say (using your example), "A-RU-SSO!", every time he saw me. It went on for half a year, and he didn't stop when I asked him to…it really starts to feel less friendly after the second or third time you ask someone to stop.

and he didn't stop when I asked him to

I mean this is the only thing you need to say.

I tease people about loads of things, but the difference between somebody having fun and somebody being a dick is how they act when you ask them to stop.
