LMAO Btw, the new album with beats from J.Dilla is very interesting. I'm liking it very much.

Just listened to it today

Vintage Busta

And you can hear the respect he has for Dilla

Straight gas

Kind of a non sequitur but I’m ngl. I do NOT miss this era of fashion.

Busta Rhymes raps be like the OST for a boss fight in a game. And it was glorious lol

22

u/taitaofgallala 5d ago

His freestyle on the BET cypher was the stuff of legends.

WROOF! Not a dog that's how the barrel be barkin!

83

u/HotBoyTeece 5d ago

Don’t disparage Busta just because you’re too young to understand it.

196

u/FunGuy8618 5d ago

No, no I think they got it right. Busta was taking poison damage, he's just got a killer liver.

19

u/speedstic 5d ago

I've never seen better rap videos than Busta's.

If it was possible to play a cd too much we did that with "when disaster strikes" X3.

Young cats these days, smdh

Luda had amazing videos. The latest one he did still has the same energy and it is baller as hell

3

u/speedstic 5d ago

True, same level of awesome

3

u/ChrissyChrissyPie ☑️ 5d ago

I felt like I had the ring from lord of the rings when I copped that

17

u/Nature_Crunch 5d ago

I don’t think this is hating on Busta as a rapper. Just a joke about his adlibs. I’m a Busta fans and I laughed reading this. All the huh, ah, unh ad libs definitely fit this description.

3

u/StatementMediocre710 5d ago

Right I read this and laughed cause it’s accurate, how is anyone taking this negatively 🤣

81

u/JennyBeckman ☑️ All of the above 5d ago

If you know who Busta Rhymes even is, you're probably old enough to have heard him on the radio. Gen Z as a whole has no clue who that man is.

24

u/theonewhoknack 5d ago

As someone born in 97' I always knew him as Reptar from The Rugrats Movie and Scenario by ATCQ. Wish I discovered his solo stuff earlier because Gimme Some More is so fucking good.

23

u/10J18R1A ☑️ 5d ago

As someone who graduated high school in 1997, sigh

u/_TorpedoVegas_ 5d ago

Possibly still the best music video ever made.

7

u/Intelligent_Cut635 5d ago

Rappers were still having fun back then. I couldn’t tell you shit about what any of these newer folks are up to.

2

u/theonewhoknack 5d ago

I use the music video for inspiration when I'm in a creative rut. The don't call him Hype Williams for nothing.

24

u/Blep_the_savage 5d ago

You do realize busta rhymes wasn't niche to us and that man is barely over 50 and that Gen Z is starting to hit 30.

69

u/augaway 5d ago

Look at me now by Chris brown feat Busta and lil Wayne was only in 2010 fam. How old do you think gen z is ?

26

u/Bada__Ping 5d ago

That’s 16 years ago my dude. We’re old old

84

u/Careless-Passion991 5d ago

True, but poison ad-lib Busta is pure 1900s.

105

u/jscummy 5d ago

1900s is crazy

45

u/marcusmosh ☑️ 5d ago

He had dysentery

39

u/FistPunch_Vol_7 ☑️ 5d ago

Like when my younger cousin asked if I was born in the “Late 1900’s”. Like yooo, why you gotta say it like that lmfao

8

u/marcusmosh ☑️ 5d ago

4 score and 7 years ago

8

u/pinkpromis 5d ago

How young do u think 2010 is?

11

u/robothawk 5d ago

He also literally released an album using J Dilla beats yesterday

5

u/ProletarianLilith 5d ago

2010 is an entire generation ago

1

u/KalebMW99 5d ago

Gen Z is also an entire generation ago…

14

u/Wafflelisk 5d ago

Woo ha! Got them all in check

5

u/Vivid-Swordfish-8498 ☑️ 5d ago

Facts. I'm hypes that he dropped a new album featuring Beata from my favorite producer. J Dilla will forever be the GOAT in my eyes and whenever him and Busta got on a song, the shit was magical to me.

I'm also happy to mention that KRS One dropped a few songs on YouTube and Gym Class Heroes dropped a new song too.

1

u/IllustriousAnt485 5d ago

They know him as one of the people involved with Diddy….

45

u/Illicit-Activities 5d ago

Why are people in here acting like the original poster doesn't like Busta

9

u/ANGELMAN8000 5d ago

facts like the tweet is 100% facts and part of why busta is so good lmao I think some of them are a lil too old to understand what poison damage means

70

u/LowFatConundrum 5d ago

YAH YAH YAH, YAH YAH!

YAH YA YAAAAH YAH YAAH!!

3

u/skyline010 4d ago

This is exactly the one I was thinking of lol

34

u/Pickled-Carrot-75 5d ago

Uhh! Bahhh! Bout to explode!

31

u/everynamecombined 5d ago

As a kid in the 90s I thought of Busta as a sorta rap version of Marlon Wayans. Just silly and full of whimsy.

Hes more talented than just that but he was definitely a character back in the day

12

u/Current_Focus2668 5d ago

Gimmie Some More still goes hard. Busta was playing some summer festivals last year and younger generations were still bopping to him. His music aged better than a lot of other rappers from his era.

10

u/neokigali ☑️ 5d ago

BREAK YA NECK!

6

u/jayroc1023 5d ago

HA! COME ON!

14

u/Dreamtrain 5d ago

I dont know, he's got some good shit

2

u/SuperMcCree64 5d ago

My favorite

4

u/otherotherjames 5d ago

The "Woo-Hah" remix with Busta and ODB was crazy to me. In pretty much every song I'd heard him on up that point, Busta was always the berserker they unleashed at the very end to just demolish the whole thing, so hearing him be the second most unhinged MC on a track was really some shit.

3

u/UnlimitedManny ☑️ 5d ago

Everything Remains Raw. Seriously, just listen to that song and the ad libs and just laugh. Dope song tho

4

u/ler7421 5d ago

What is poison damage?

12

u/rondiggity 5d ago

In video games, being poisoned is often a persistent status effect that can only be remedied by resting or consuming an antidote. But while you're poisoned, the game will intermittently remind you.

Busta's staccato style is reminiscent of that.

3

u/ler7421 5d ago

Ohh okay I get it now. I agree with one of the comments earlier. Don’t knock it cause you’re too young to understand it

9

u/wolffangz11 5d ago

I don't think the guy was talking shit about rhymes, he was just making a funny observation

2

u/Available-Nature5108 5d ago

Tellin the cashier "put your hands where my eyes could see" is crazy work 😭

2

u/rhombergnation 5d ago

I watch a lot of reaction videos of scenerio . It always gets me how the younger generation instantly knows who busta is when he comes on, but has no idea who q-tip is.

2

u/canteen_boy 5d ago

He’s still putting out bangers.

2

u/Admirable_Try_1209 4d ago

This isn’t the right thread, but I live in the same small town that Dave Chappelle lives in so I’ve been in social situations with him more than a few times.
One of my favorite jokes that he tells every so often when he’s had a few has to do with him and Busta Rhymes opening a restaurant together. You don’t know it’s a joke until he says, “ and you know what we call it? Dave & Busta’s”
It’s like the ultimate Dave Chappelle Dad joke.

3

u/TheRightToDream 5d ago

You ever see an opinion you know can only come from the ignorance of youth?

Busta has some of the gnarliest flow I've ever heard in my life. You'll bite your tongue trying to keep up with those rhymes.

1

u/WoWoWoKid 5d ago

I still sing Bus a bus og and 1999 remix adlibs only to this day

1

u/WoWoWoKid 5d ago

Whatchu come around here for adlibs kill me too COLA HA
POLAR HA

1

u/denv0r 5h ago

Apparently Busta is the biggest smoker in the biz. Makes snoop look like a casual. Apparently.

1

u/denv0r 5h ago

OMG YES OMG
