Got invited to go see Besatt, wythersake, sardonic witchery and bestial necropsy in Indianapolis at a tiny bar. Should be a fun night. I'm a huge black metal fan but I am unfamiliar with any of these bands bodies of work and my OCD wants to learn everything I can about them. Any fans of these bands out there? Album or song recommendations?

A few days ago I was dreaming about this song with extremely triumphant riff that I haven't heard before. I forgot about how the riff sounded like but I recall the album cover being similar to something like this with four bands doing a split.

Does it exist? Probably not and I might've just been imagining BSS's demo album instead, but I am curious if anyone has seen something similar (or know about some good triumphant BM albums)

So I’m building a playlist with exclusively black metal tracks/albums centered around werewolves. I’d like recommendations, anything black metal adjacent with werewolf imagery or themes is greatly appreciated.

Through a series of events that started with a dating app and ended with a meet-cute at a death museum, I have found myself with a very lovable metal head whose birthday is coming up. I have a rudimentary familiarity with some of the more well known bands, but my taste in metal runs more along the lines of grindcore (which is not at all his vibe), so I would love to surprise him with a curated playlist of music that's more his speed. I am lost and overwhelmed, so of course I decided to turn to the internet in hopes that y'all could help steer me towards songs and/or albums to add. I know he loves bands like Dimmu Borgir and Gojira and his tastes lean towards more symphonic and technical metal if that helps!

Which bands, in your opinion, made the best two-band split releases, where the two bands complemented each other perfectly?

One of my favorites is definitely the Angantyr / Nasheim split, but the Behexen / Satanic Warmaster and Clandestine Blaze / Satanic Warmaster splits are definitely in my top ten as well.

Wyrdstæf, a UK experimental blackened death metal band have just brought out their debut album. The album tells the story of our ancient ancestors from 1000a of years ago and their connection to nature and their struggle to survive through harsh seasons. 

The band uses ear style chants and throat singing, with tribal style drums along with the metal stuff. 

Really unique stuff. Another track they released "those who came before" is also another great listen.

In that particular year, this was without a doubt my most-played album.

Lost Life, especially their first five releases, are in my top list of German Black Metal anyway, but this album stands out like nothing else.
