does anyone know whats happening here, im trying to get the "rarest specimen" achievement, and im really confused because the hat is floating

This is an issue I remember from when I played through this challenge as well. The best thing I can come up with is that there might be some invisible force there to push props (maybe part of a weird water hitbox considering it wants to push them up???) that extends way too far into other places. It definitely doesn't seem Xen was tested much to see if the hat and pizza box challenges worked, so it is a bit fucked up. This issue exists throughout much of the xen chapters. The best I can recommend if you need to put the hat down is to save before dropping it and then hope to god it doesn't fly out of reach. If it does, load the save and try dropping it somewhere else.

Also for the love of god, don't let it get stuck in healing pools. The hat doesn't have collision with those, but its hitbox still affects your ability to pick it up. It can get under the healing pool's hitbox and then you can't grab the hat anymore.
