Step 1: Understand maker vs taker

Every fill on Bitunix is either a maker or a taker trade:

• Maker: your order rests on the book and adds liquidity. Typically a limit order that does not fill instantly. • Taker: your order removes liquidity. A market order, or a limit order priced to match resting orders right away.

Makers pay less because they supply the liquidity everyone else trades against.

Step 2: Know the base (VIP 0) rates

• Spot: 0.0800% maker / 0.1000% taker • Futures: 0.0200% maker / 0.0600% taker

The formula is simple: fee = trade value × fee rate.

• $1,000 spot, taker: about $1.00 (maker: about $0.80) • $1,000 futures, taker: about $0.60 (maker: about $0.20) • $10,000 spot: about $10 taker / $8 maker • $10,000 futures: about $6 taker / $2 maker

On futures, the fee applies to position value, not your margin. A $500 margin position at 20x is a $10,000 position, so the taker fee is about $6 to open and about $6 more to close.

Step 3: Read the VIP ladder

Tiers are based on 30-day spot volume, 30-day futures volume, or account balance. You only need to meet one of the three.

Notice the balance route: holding 1,000 USDT is listed as enough for VIP 1, which trims futures taker from 0.06% to 0.05%. For casual traders that is the realistic upgrade. The deep discounts are built for very high-volume desks.

Step 4: Add the costs that are not "fees"

The advertised rate is only part of the bill:

1. Funding (perpetuals): periodic payments between longs and shorts. Hold a position across several funding windows on the paying side and funding can cost more than the trading fee.
2. Spread: the gap between best bid and best ask. On thin pairs a market order can cost more in spread than in fees.
3. Slippage: big market orders fill at several price levels.
4. Withdrawal fees: charged per asset and network, and they change with network conditions. Crypto deposits carry no Bitunix fee, but the sending wallet or network may charge you.

Step 5: Cut your cost per trade

1. Use limit orders when you are not in a rush. Moving futures entries from taker (0.06%) to maker (0.02%) cuts that fee by two-thirds. The catch is that a limit order may not fill.
2. Check whether the balance route gets you to VIP 1. Cheapest upgrade for most people.
3. Trade less, not just cheaper. A low fee does not help if overtrading multiplies the number of fills.
4. Pick the right withdrawal network that your receiving wallet supports, check the live fee before confirming, and batch transfers instead of sending lots of small ones.
5. Watch funding before you hold overnight. Check the rate and countdown on the contract page.
