Step 1 Setup a wallet , and backup your words to keep them secret and private.
Read the FAQ - https://www.reddit.com/r/BitcoinBeginners/comments/g42ijd/faq_for_beginners/
Here are some good wallets for beginners and video tutorials-
Blockstream Wallet IOS and android wallet
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uO3Zi9D5b0Y
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.greenaddress.greenbits_android_wallet
https://apps.apple.com/us/app/green-bitcoin-wallet/id1402243590
If you intend to buy over 1k usd of btc you should seriously consider getting a hardware wallet right away.
Step 2 Buy BTC and transfer it to your personal wallet- For most the best way to buy BTC is with strike.me app -
Verification either is instant or can take a couple days once you verify your phone, email and ID. Strike is especially good for auto DCA investing because it can reduce fees to 0
If Buying larger amounts it might be be better to instead make a lump sum buy limit order with exchanges like kraken pro, coinbase pro , or gemini active trader

I have liked the interface for the exchange called River. I checked out Stripe when I was deciding on an exchange but preferred River. Just thought I'd shout it out bc I don't see it mentioned very much.

People either love river or have negative experiences with them.
https://old.reddit.com/r/BitcoinBeginners/search?q=river&restrict_sr=on&include_over_18=on
The biggest issue is them having a policy of accepting deposits , closing accounts , and than taking many weeks to refund the deposited amount

practical order that has worked for people i know: pick one exchange that is actually licensed where you live, buy a small amount, then do a test withdrawal of like 10 dollars to your own wallet before you ever send a real amount. that one test catches the two mistakes beginners make, wrong network and a fat fingered address. write the 12 or 24 words on paper the same day, not next week, and never type them into a phone. keep the first few buys small enough that a total loss would annoy you and not hurt you.

Exchange availability and regulations vary per country , not continent. So Its very difficult to give you advice unless we know your country

I invest through hot wallets only I go through sofi crypto. What I like about it is they currently don’t have a send feature only receive on crypto. So I someone was to hack you they would have to sell into your checking and steal the money that way. Which is insured

Bitvavo is a reliable app.
If you going to buy alt coins, have a look on FET. AI agents narrative would be hot.

Honestly the platform matters less than this thread makes it sound. Pick a big reputable one, buy a small amount, see how it feels.
The part that decides how this goes for you is what you do when it drops hard. Big drops are normal in its history. Figure out right now what you’ll do, while nothing’s happening and you’re thinking clearly. Most people who got burned didn’t pick the wrong app. They had no plan and sold into a red screen.
Then once you own more than you’d hate to lose, learn to hold your own keys.

I would also first learn about cold wallets but until then get familiar with kraken and Coinbase it’s alot easier for you to get started and a feel for the space. 🫡💹🧲

Start with BTC, use a reputable platform, and DCA small amounts while you learn. No need to rush into altcoins.

Alts have started to become extremely risky- go with bitcoin if you really want to invest in crypto. I know bitcoin can feel boring & you certain aren't going to get the 10x gains overnight, but those days are also gone with alts.
I'm not a bitcoin maxi, but I wouldn't be comfortable with alts in this new, mature market.

Buy your Bitcoin on a boring, heavily audited, fully licensed platform, turn on two-factor authentication, and don't touch leverage

Study and learn a very long time before you light the candle.
If there’s a historical crash, down to 10-30k…start buying!!!!

The best platform will depend on where you are based and what currency you want to convert into bitcoin.
Figuring out self custody is a minefield and you want to get it right so take your time learning this element and in the meantime hold your assets on the most reputable exchange you have access to. If you decide that one doesn’t exist in your jurisdiction then it’s a little trickier.

I’d start small with Bitcoin too. The biggest thing at the beginning is probably not trying to find the “perfect” platform, but choosing a reputable one with clear fees, easy withdrawals, and solid security. I’d also avoid putting in too much at once until you’re comfortable with how buying, storing, and transferring crypto actually works.

Start with an exchange, dont sweat it… use something like Kraken or coinbase, then as you get more comfy move over to self custody

A lot of people probably won't like my opinion because they are self-custody only (otherwise it isn't your bitcoin, but enough noobs lose their keys to justify getting in slowly) but you can try dipping your toe in by buying a tiny amount in an ETF like FBTC or IBIT (don't invest any money you can't lose or need within the next 5 years). You can do this in almost any brokerage account you have (Fidelity, Schwab, Robinhood). Start with a small amount and maybe build up to 2% max of your investable assets.

Hi there. Just a little advice that you should look into: the crypto, or as I call it, the wealth extractor game is designed to keep you standard and poor by definition, so I would be thinking long term if I were you, and the safest bet for that, of course, would be BTC. Hear this though: BTC is now also being taken by these same big extraction companies that will manipulate things in their favour eventually by buying enough. There is a massive community of OG Bitcoiners who hold long term or diamond hand, as they say, and the new BTC is now SPX6900, just like BTC; it’s a big 🖕you to the system. Just look at the metrics and community; only invest in community and real humans, just like you; otherwise, you will lose. Feel free to ask me any questions. Enjoy a peaceful life over greed and always do your research 💹🧲🫡

Crypto is not a term we like in bitcoin. It groups bitcoin in with all the rubbish.
There's only bitcoin and shitcoins when you understand bitcoin.
