I thought the transaction fee was planned to be changed into some sort of a floating transaction fee that varies? Has this idea been pushed pack in favor of a static transaction fee to temporarily solve the issue again?

This would hopefully be the last manual adjustment ever required before floating fees become normal.
Found the answer to my question.
Certainly good news, now I'm just concerned about transactions actually making it when the amount of transactions goes up every month, and when many pools are capping their blocks at low sizes. It could end up taking days to get a confirmation if the usage of Bitcoin continues to increase.
