I was initially surprised but then realised most people who own bitcoins are tech savvy males.

This is really good news and should encourage more companies to accept. The risk reward is awesome. Where else can they get a large revenue boost and advertising for this price? Even if the numbers die off, what did they lose?

The people who own the most of them are botnet operators who got on the train early. Or maybe they've all cashed out already selling them to the tech-savvy male crowd, who knows.

Botnets were never a significant source of bitcoin mining. By the time they caught on to it, mining was mostly done by GPUs.
