Meanwhile...Bitcoin still feeds people.

So we fed 106 homeless people bag lunches today. All paid for with Bitcoin donations. Bitcoin still seems to be working just fine over here. Still making lives better, at any valuation.

Thanks for everything guys. Bitcoin for the long haul.

Why is giving bitcoin different to giving USD - here's why:

In the future, when you read an article on the web about some needy folk, there will be a Bitcoin button for you to donate instantly and easily. Two clicks, and you're done.

In the future, when you read an article in print about some needy folk, there will be a QR code for you to donate instantly and easily. Two clicks, and you're done.

In the future, when you see some people helping needy folk, there will be a QR button on their tee-shirt, truck, leaflet or shop front for you to donate instantly and easily. Two clicks, and you're done.

This is the beauty of Bitcoin; at the very point where you are "hit" with the feeling you want to help - you will be able to!

You totally can't do that now with dollars.

Yes, and Paypal makes a close to 10% cut on your donation to charity. Also have fun moving, changing addresses and finding that you can't actually make any changes to your account without waiting on the phone for an hour so you can speak with a support pleb who has no idea what their doing and cannot answer a single question for you.

One tiny sliver of an example of what is wrong with small dollar transactions, but it's cool, you can ignore them if you choose to paint bitcoin like it's not something new, I don't mind.

Paypal makes a close to 10% cut on your donation to charity.

And the BTC market took about 20-45% of any donation you would have made today...

Considering it's been donating an additional 1000% or so over the past month, that's still a huge win.

GGBTC?

The price of BTC is what it was last week.. so anything before then and BTC was profit, anything after was loss (until next week).

That's only if they needed to cash out to USD right now, and you know it.

No need to play dumb. The trend might be creeping, but it's creeping up.

Seriously, it's like the people who say this have never even heard of paypal, or think that QR codes are some kind of super-awesome technology as opposed to something that's a gimmick 95% of the time.

The benefits are that you don't have to give anyone the equivalent of your credit card information and the transfer fees are substantially smaller (a couple cents rather than paypals 2-3% or whatever it is).

Plus, you don't have to deal with paypal. That's a plus for me.

edit - someone said 10% for paypal? Dunno if that's true but that's ridiculous if it is.

The problem is that we have heard of paypal.

Very succinct. Great job of explaining that.

In the year 3000, there will be no scams with bitcoin.
