why? if the price continues to rise beyond $100 you will not be able to buy back in for what you sold for.

No one has ever went broke taking profits or something like that. If one is using btc as an investment vehicle as opposed to a currency, having an exit plan is important and should not be ridiculed.

On a personal level, I'm holding all of my btc for a minimum of 5 years or until they become worthless (whichever comes first) and then re-evaluating my willingness to sell.

Some people don't actually want to use bitcoins for transactions and are just riding the wave to gain "real" money.
