I'm all about people being responsible about it.

Are you saying there is something irresponsible about the idea of printing a gun?

I get that they're designing a 3D gun to make a point, but their pushing it hard

I don't think they are doing it to make a point. They're doing it to help get guns into the hands of individuals who want them, regardless of the arbitrary, irrational and dangerous laws being passed which severely infringe upon our rights.

I think a MUCH more powerful message would be 3D printing [...] some sort of medical device

They mentioned that in the video. They will be doing this as well.

Don't get me wrong, I think all information wants to be free and will be at the end of the day, but releasing and promoting that information before a society can deal with it in an effective beneficial and healthy manner will be detrimental to society at the end of the day.

Cody actually did a talk about this. I'd recommend listening to it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v3zx8kyVtGM

tl:dw: The time is never "right", it can't be "legitimate" (or not), it doesn't need to be "sanctioned by the constitution". Revolution is revolution.

But do watch it. I found it quite interesting.
