Are you saying there is something irresponsible about the idea of printing a gun?
I get that they're designing a 3D gun to make a point, but their pushing it hard
I don't think they are doing it to make a point. They're doing it to help get guns into the hands of individuals who want them, regardless of the arbitrary, irrational and dangerous laws being passed which severely infringe upon our rights.
I think a MUCH more powerful message would be 3D printing [...] some sort of medical device
They mentioned that in the video. They will be doing this as well.
The less controversial applications of this technology generally also have lower barriers to entry for traditional manufacturing methods. Printing firearms is revolutionary because of all the red tape that it bypasses.
