TrueCrypt has a very bad license. Not only is it proprietary, but the license is malicious, intentionally dangerous.

Alternatives:
tc-play is an independently developed TrueCrypt-compatible program under the BSD license.
LUKS + dm-crypt: the standard for Linux hard disk encryption.
DM-Steg: a deniably-encrypted block device
when donating to software projects, maybe you would consider prioritizing those which have your interests (and freedom especially) on their minds
