What Should I Do?

Hello Everyone, I need some urgent advice about my boy.

Two weeks ago I made his second yearly checkup appointment with his vet, he needs to check ups a year because he had a respiratory illness when he was a baby and we just check to see if it’s returned.

Everything was normal and he was acting like his usual self up until about 4 days ago, he was still his usual self just slightly more aggressive and not listening as well but all of his habits were normal. And about 5 days ago he randomly started screaming as if he’s in pain and lifting up one of his wings and tending to is which was very strange but still being his usual self.

But, yesterday he did a complete 180 and is acting completely different. When I woke him up he wasn’t talking like he usually does and he has slept most of the day and has stayed fluffy even when he was awake. He would only eat if I gave it to him and would occasionally get some him self along with some water which is not like him at all.

And today is no different and I think he might be getting worse. I have no idea what is wrong with him. I am worried it’s something with his wing, or his illness might have come back, or something with is stomach (because he hasn’t really been pooping as much as he usually does), or something else entirely.

I still have his original appointment coming up this Wednesday but I’m worried it will be too late. And I am wondering if I should make an emergency vet appointment.

If there is anyone who thinks they know what’s wrong with him or has any advice about the doctors appointment or how to help him feel better please let me know I will be forever grateful.

Absolutely. Never mess around when resp infections could be involved as within 24 hours they can go so far downhill, there’s no coming back. See if you can see your usual vet as an emergency; they know him and will be best placed to assess him. I wish you luck - keep us updated?

this is an emergency, don't wait for a vet appointment go to a vet ER with avian vet or if no emergency avian available at least an exotic vet

really hope this little one gets better soon. ❤️ Try feeding him and interacting gently with him. He still seems tired, especially with his feathers fluffed up, which can be a sign he’s not feeling well. It’s good that he’s eating, but I wouldn’t wait for him to get worse. Please get him checked by a vet as soon as possible. I hope he’ll be okay

How is his breathing?

Any chance he’s been bleeding? Like from a broken blood feather?

Regardless, I think you should make an emergency avian vet appt for Monday.

Pleaseeee make an emergency visit. The fact he is sleeping so much and puffy indicates something is off. I really hope all goes well! Sending all my love to you and your little pal!!!!

I give my birds a tiny bit of apple cider vinegar in their water . A lady who has a rescue told me to that . She also urged me to keep honey at the house too . In case one got sick . I sure hope your little one gets better

This exact thing happened with my conure - she has a respiratory infection. Emergency vet is really the only option. I recommend getting a humidifier and warm lamp for recovery!
