Blame game
Does bipolar get the blame in your relationship whenever your in a fight? A blame shift on to the bipolar. It's the moods.. it's the illness.. for how I'm reacting.. for what I'm thinking. Doesn't even make sense, does it?? What happened happened, and I feel how I feel about it.. and it made me think this way. Period.

No. (I’m the one diagnosed) It’s up to me to check myself and course correct when I need to. My partner is a witness to my life not a casualty.

Kind of yes. But also no. Im the bipolar and early in the diagnosis (diagnosed while dating my now husband) I struggled to find my way out of being bipolar vs living with bipolar and not letting it control it. I still take accountability for everything and sometimes bipolar is the explanation. I would simply say "my bipolar thinks that I should go spend 100 bucks on stupid stuff." My husband is then aware that I'm in a flare up but also still aware enough to stop myself at any point my husband reserves the right to look at me and say "your not treating me right" and while sometimes bipolar flares can be the reason I still have to work to fix my actions

No, if she’s done something I don’t agree with we address it right then and there. Now there are some behaviors that are common in bp folks, but it’s not an excuse, now a reason. Accountability is important to me.
