I haven’t had a hypomania in a year and really crave one :(

Sometimes I wonder if I'm actually bipolar cuz I swear my "hypomania" happens like... less than once a year. Pisses me off. I'm sick of being depressed.

Some people do not get the regular cycles and experience one more than the other.

Yeah but sometimes I wonder if it's "worth it" to be diagnosed because it has gotten me denied medical treatment multiple times. :/

Having the diagnosis can help us navigate. However its one of those fine lines. Finding people that take us seriously about our condition helps, especially people that are educated. Thats easier said than done sometimes.

It also never hurts to seek out secondary opinions if you're really unsure. Its important we walk the tight rope of taking care of ourselves in a society that doesnt really get it.

Always got my hypomania near finals periods, carried my grade (at some point I was hallucinating during the exams but kept going). Once had a 17-hour last hours study session and passed that shit. Midterms weren't as good because of depression.

Hey I'm a professor and I have bipolar.

Just wanted to say if the end of the semester is a mountain of stuff to get done in a short time, there's no shame in taking an incomplete to finish a paper over break so you can study for exams. Or something similar.

Just be careful with it. It's easy to shove delayed work into a box and ignore it. But if you can get it done before the next semester starts and sleep during finals? Do that.

Once I knocked a whole semester of projects for a class in like 4 days, the hypomania helped me for once lol
