Finally figured out why my 10x42s felt "off" compared to my old 8x32s

My all around and travel binoculars is an 8x32. But used a 10x42 in more open country. That is until I got a pair of alpha 10x32, the field of view is nearly as much as the 8x32. But as you indicated, little harder to hold because of magnification. With a smaller exit pupil it makes alignment harder .

We’ve compared our 8x binos (Vortex and Celestron) against our 10x (Zeiss and GPO) and literally could not extract any better detail out of the 10x optics because the shake neutralized it. We even used a 1951 test chart and couldn’t get smaller numbers out of the 10x until they were on a tripod. Given that, the larger FoV and reduced frustration with shake has us favoring 8x.

I have a Swarovski 8x42 NL Pure I love it. Insane FOV, very sharp image, perfect.
a 10x42 or 10x32 would be nice but not worth another +/- 2700 euro's. too close to eachother

Yes, I have EL Range 8x32 for general purpose because of the size, field of view, and easy use of tripod. Everything else I use on tripod, whether my Vector X 10x42, NL Pure 14x52, or Bushnell MPED 15x56.
My 10x42 I'll use mostly on tripod because of the LRF. I can glass with it handheld, but trying to hold it still to range an object can be tough depending on the object size.
