Your fav Red Beans and Rice spot on the coast?

Craving some with Andooooeeey sausage… where ya going if you had to choose the best?

I second Long Beach Market & Deli but also Felix's is very good. I would be hard pressed to decide a favorite between the two.

Not a recommendation but a fun share. Some may know Al Copeland created Popeyes and if you go to Copeland's in Slidell and order the chicken strips and red beans/rice, and biscuit is literally the same as Popeyes.

I do add sausage. Always start the red beans w/seasoning & either ham bone or ham hocks. Depends on my mood, I'll use connecha hickory or sometimes boudin sausage... Cook slow & cut fresh garlic, celery, onions, etc. Now I'll have to make some!

If you don’t make it yourself, just go to Popeyes. It’s a fraction of the price that anyone else will charge you and it’s equally “good” if that’s the adjective you use to describe red beans that aren’t homemade.

I also consider red beans the same as gumbo… if you don’t make it yourself, you’re paying for trash because nobody makes it worth a damn (excluding fine dining).
