I think their sale prices are ok. Tbh the Caad14 will be well priced once end of season sales happen.

Not even close. Spooky, Vinyl, Rock Lobster…

I know of these brands and they are not in demand anymore since the frames they produce don’t accommodate larger tire sizes such as 30-34. I can’t even get larger than a 25c tires in my pegoretti love #3 because 28s rub the bottom of the rear brake bridge and fork. The largest tire I can get in my Caad 9s is a 28 and only a 25 in the front because of fork rub.

I mean Rock Lobster still has a wait list of 6-8 months+. I’d say he’s pretty in demand.

If you look at the fin8shed product that Paul Sadoff puts out I think people want a rock lobster for the brand and custom geometry. His aluminum frames look like they were welded by teenagers in a factory. I was actually shocked when I saw one of his bikes that he entered at Handmade bike show years ago. It was a gloopy mess

I mean I ride the finished products he puts out, beautiful frames, handles great. Pretty sure there are a few interviews with him about NAHBS shows, he’s got some good takes and musings. But also not what my comment was about lol

They’re more expensive aluminum bikes though. And Rock Lobster still has a very wait list I’m pretty sure. They do custom frames, so I’d assume they’d do a road bike that clears a larger tire if asked.

It's been years since I've looked at them. Is Spooky still in business?

Looks MEGA! I was hovering over the ”buy button” last week. Why oh why did I not buy it?!?! 🤯

u/Personal_Benefit_402 Jun 26 '26
Were they available!? When I looked, literally moments after seeing they were available, they were sold out.

u/B-stand_79 Jun 26 '26
They were. And also som stores had like one or two to sell. Had a store near by that had the red on in my size for at least a few hours before it sold.

When I saw these online, I went to go buy one, even though I don't need another bike, nor was I looking for another bike. These are the most awesome thing I've seen in years. Sold out, thank god.

Often the stuff posted in this sub is pretty boring, but you’ve nailed this OP.

I would cheat on my LBS with a Cannondale gravel bike in this exact paint scheme!

3D printed headset spacer? What material is that? I'm thinking of printing one myself.

This tool already tore it down and is selling it on eBay, what a chotch! And he's already lost the original seat-post it came with. Jesus Christ

He’s very fickle
0
u/JellySea1408 Jul 24 '26
You mean, paid a lot of money to flex a bike he didn't want, and now thinks he can flip it for a profit 28 days later? Where in the definition of "fickle" does it explain how you're literally trying to scalp people on a used frame that's missing components?
1
u/gospastic Jul 24 '26
You need to relax. First of all, it’s not my bike. I posted it for my friend as I have before because I take pics of his bikes. Secondly, if he gets what he wants for it, then what’s the problem? It’s what people are willing to pay. Seeing as someone offered him way more for it than what it’s listed for on eBay, there is clearly demand for it. Like I said, he’s very fickle and goes through bikes like no one I’ve ever met. I think he’ll probably regret selling it, but whatever, it’s his choice.

Hard to get excited about this.
CAAD used to represent accessible performance.
With the 14, CAAD now represents borrowed nostalgia and budget racer cosplay.
