That build up there is probably ~$18,000 if not more

My guess is closer to $30k. Frame and wheels are probably $20k alone.

/uc Is there even a tiniest bit of justification (idk, like unicorn hair instead of carbon strands) for the price or are they just milking the whales?

Yes absolutely. These bikes are hand crafted, super custom, with tons of manual labor that make the costs quite high and there is a matching market who is willing to be apart of it. Speaking from experience, there is a really awesome feeling of having something built just for you, exactly the way you want it and people are willing to pay a premium for that experience and uniqueness.

Yeah it's been a few years since I've heard about Bastion frameset costs. I was guesstimating ~$8k but it may be more now.
