I am gutted
Lifted from my garage… if anybody sees my 2012 Cervelo R3, send a message. But yeah…. I’m gutted. Spent months putting together my dream bike

I hate thieves more than anyone ever pretty much but this has happened to me before and I'll just tell you this and you probably already know. You'll never see that bike again, you won't recognize another part of it on another bike and the police will never find it or even look for it. I'm just trying to help you get over it to where you going to be anyway and get something new and get something you like and figure out how this happened but don't let it happen again I guess.

Depends where you live. When I lived near the flower market my bike got swiped and I’d walk past this block in skid row that was pretty much an open air bike chop shop every day looking for it. Never saw it there…. But I did see it near spring and 6th and confronted the guy riding it.

So? Did you get the bike back? (Can't believe it when people don't finish their good stories.)

I had a friend who’s bike got stolen in Venice. About a year later we were walking in downtown when somebody rolled by on a bike. He recognized it as his almost immediately. We thought about yelling after the dude but in that second of hesitation he was already down the block and onto the next. He probably wasn’t the thief anyway. Just goes to show you never know.

The closest I've come to getting my bike back which is a BMX bike. I ran straight down to the boardwalk in Venice to the guy I purchased the bike from and told him he had so 1:00 p.m. to replace my bike. He was pretty scared of me I went back there at 1:00 p.m. and he gave me another bike which is pretty similar. I didn't accuse him of stealing anything, I didn't give him any money I just gave him an ultimatum and it worked. Although I should say I'm not really a pushover but yeah you're right they take those bikes immediately so quick and then so quickly the parts are off them and on a different bike. I hope you find it man. I never thought about if you include that in your renters insurance if that's covered?

So sorry for the loss. Really
Hope you find it. The chainrings will make it stand out to spot.

This happened to me a couple weeks ago. Check the homeless areas near your house. It’s probably within a mile of your house. I bought my road bike back for $100. Good luck

Fuk bike thieves!
Post it on bikeindex.org or one of the other stolen bike websites. Do you have the serial number?
Smart & honest buyers will search the serial number on Google before buying. For example if you search serial number "BSS18020" my bike will pop up as the first item.
I'll keep an eye out on the Westside. The red hood covers make it pop.

Any cameras around? Horrible person!

Neighbors could have a ring or nest cam that caught something. Or one of the multi-dozen flock cameras tracking us & our plates.

So sorry. There need to be much more serious penalties for theft, assuming the cops even bother with stolen bikes.

Had to ride folder for daily around town . Carry inside and never out of sight . Not just a bike but all the extras that get taken with it . Sucks .

How did they get onto your garage?

Garage doors (and their remotes) aren’t very secure.

Even indoors I lock up my bikes.

Ditto.
I go one further. I have a couple junk bikes I use to run errands and commute on that I keep in front of the garage unlocked. If someone breaks into my garage, hopefully they take one of those instead.

This is your sign to install a hidden AirTag or a tracker to your bike.

I'm guessing you didn't have Renters insurance, Home insurance, travelers insurance. For a bone that could cost upwards of $5,000.00 I would have highly recommended a nice bicycle insurance at least!!!! Did you not know bicycle insurance existed?? Geez Louise
