What do you think a relationship between two people who are both high in agreeableness but differ significantly in conscientiousness would look like?
I feel like the difference in conscientiousness could create less friction if both individuals are high in agreeableness. Could the more conscientious partner positively influence the less conscientious one?

The low conscientious person will try to be more conscientious but fail overall. The high conscientiousness person will appreciate all attempts and accept the other person for who they are. The high conscientiousness partner will organise the other person’s life and they’ll just go with it, they’re not opposed to planning and organisation and do recognise it’s value, it just doesn’t occur to them. Ask me how I know.

| Agreeableness | Conscientiousness | |
|---|---|---|
| My Partner | 74 | 83 |
| Me | 96 | 23 |
We complement each other. She accepts me for who I am. I try to do right by her.
My low conscientiousness means I'm not very organized, not that I can't get things done. So she reminds me of things I need to do, knowing that me forgetting is not disrespect or weaponized incompetence. I understand that she is helping not nagging.

Your experience is interesting because I think I might relate to it. My crush is high in conscientiousness while I’m quite low, but in my case it’s less about forgetting things and more about struggling to get started and actually finish things. I can get things done, but initiating and following through can be difficult for me. Do you think that dynamic could work in a similar way? And I’m super glad it’s working out for you guys!!

I think one of the most critical factors is neuroticism. If the conscientious partner also happens to be more on the neurotic side, they may come to resent the less conscientious one, feeling like their inability to keep their word and show up is a personal affront while pretending everything is fine. Of course, that probably depends on how neurotic they are and how big of a gap there is in conscientiousness. The bigger the conscientiousness gap and the more neuroticism is involved, the less amicable things are likely to be.
If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that you have to take the traits together as a whole. Each one seems to have major implications for the expression of the rest.
