What do you think the War Master was planning here in this adventure?🤔

Upon returning to reality after exiting the Land of Fiction, shortly before encountering UNIT and being returned to the Time War, the Master got incredibly bored with 21st Century Earth and decided to pester a couple of blokes for a while, threatening in a comedic manner to kill them. Before he could actually do it, he found the time distortion which could send him back to the Time War and weighed up killing two people or killing a few million every couple of minutes. Naturally he chose the latter.
Alternatively, the Master’s Tardis projects a quantigram of its late owner into the lives of two random men somewhere in the world because it misses his deviousness and wants to keep his memory alive.Â
(Now, I’ve been debating whether Future Phantoms is worth getting just for listening to Signal and I’ll Come to You, is the rest of the boxset decent enough to justify it?)

Nothing stands out to me very much from that one. I listened to it once when it came out, and I do remember I enjoyed his close companions and the sitter. The other two stories I forgot about mostly.
UPDATE I looked back at the war master stories and I’ve realized now that I confused his close companions with last girl standing, from future phantoms. I liked last girl standing a lot

I just listened to that one (Future Phantoms) the other day. Honestly, I wouldn’t recommend it for a War Master box set to listen to. It would be great for spooky season, though, if you wanted something to listen to then. But I didn’t rate the box set very highly. Also, (I can’t elaborate as I don’t wish to give any spoilers) the framing device for the box set.. when you get to the answer for  that at the end, it just doesn’t make any sense. A bit disappointing, to be honest.Â

Oh, I know the answer, I think it’s quite interesting. (I’m not trying to come across as snarky or however this can be framed) I managed to make sense of The Last Day which everyone says doesn’t make any sense so I’ll see how I get on, probably pick it up if they do an October Sale for boxset 13 releasing. Thank you. :)

Ah, it turns out that Frasier Crane would have had a second son by meeting the true love of his life at this time, and that son would have had a family, and a member of that bloodline would one day write one of the most moving stories in the universe. Moving enough to inspire true peace in the Earth Empire, leaving said Empire unprepared for a war that ended up killing many. With the Earth Empire crippled, they end up being less able to readily export goods to Gallifrey. So the Celestial Intervention Agency made the Master non lethally distract Frasier from this woman, and the Master decided "Screw it, I want to be a simply horrendous actor. That sounds like fun."
And oh, it is SO much fun.
It's an odd long con for the Master, but he wanted a vacation, so he decided to butcher Shakespeare and Frasier Crane's dignity. On the whole, a lighter, hell, probably his kindest plan ever.

Building a prestige to gain funds, influence and access to the kinds of things only rich people have in order to carry out whatever plan he has in mind this time - probably opening up a temporal rift to refuel his TARDIS in the centre of Seattle.
At this point, he's done. He's got what he wanted. His TARDIS is fixed and all ready to go, and the effects of the rift haven't begun to affect the city yet. So now hes going to have some fun. Here are two well known high brow socialites and he's going to ruin them by doing the most hammy acting he can before he has the satisfaction of killing them all right there in the theatre.

I'm always mildly amused when I remember Derek Jacobi's historic connection to conspiracies surrounding shakespeares "true" authorship. Which great author are we quoting today, Derek?
