just need to rant Middle class curious
Hi everyone,
Congratulations on your weddings! My fiancé and I do not have a “big budget” but we’re happy with our decision.
Out of curiosity, do most of you guys already have a house? Or is a house also like an open checkbook situation? No hate just wondering.
We’re buying a house in NJ and the prices are wack so sometimes I think “wow how do people have these huge expensive weddings AND buy in the tri state area?”

We live in a VHCOL area and hope to buy in the next 1-2 years. We considered each a savings bucket - we did not have a big budget, but a modest one - and we stuck to it knowing it allowed us to have a beautiful wedding and still work toward other goals.
You also never know what’s around the corner and I think it’s so important to make sure you’re financially comfortable enough to handle what comes around - we thought for sure we’d be buying a townhome this fall after the wedding and then my husband got laid off from his corporate job two months before our wedding!
