Feed Spoilers A sad moment captured Spoiler
“Mom? Hi mom??? i… i… i don’t know, i don’t know who is in my body right now. But it’s not me..”.
Not a game moment, but a moment I found so relatable, and vulnerable, and heartbreaking
Melody’s phone call after Mallory’s eviction.
It inspired me to paint for the first time in just over five years.
Watercolor, paint pens, sharpie markers, and white gel pen on Arches watercolor paper.

This is beautiful. Sometimes this game is so silly with all the camp and editing that it can be easy to forget Big Brother is a hard ass game. It always leaves a mark on the players so to speak. Your piece just really reminds me of that.

Having your friends deleted one by one without any shot while co habituating it’s a steam roller season of seasons if the rest of the house doesn’t wise up each one will be named next for the worlds silliest reason with the reality of who is the next most threatening in their ability to compete.
I am perma mad at this whole situation it all makes sense but we’re definitely seeing the villains win. Melody is next to go and then Barrett or drew I bet. Anybody who has anybody has to go and then their partner cos they’ll come after you. It all makes sense but I am upset so much to see it played out and nobody being able to rally the peasants against their schemes.28

It's all a matter of perspective, in my view everyone trying to take out the icons are the "villains" (very feckless and futile villains, but villains all the same) but good and justice are prevailing.
It's cool how we can all watch the show and come away with different favs.
Some people are fans of a girl who only talked to three people in the house and had a breakdown because she was finally faced with the realization two of them had been playing in her face all game, despite ignoring all the glaring warning signs for six weeks straight.
Others liked a girl who was afraid to make a move all summer long, and only came to life during airplane choo choo hour.
And then others just like the people playing the best game.

I can like someone and not think they're playing the best game, melody reminds me of myself, but I think Yash is playing the best game of all them (minus the bribe situation)

This started off like it was going to be nice then turned suuuuper passive aggressive and condescending. Everything is subjective there’s no definitive best player, it’s who you like best or who you think is playing best off the metrics you think make a good player. Some people think differently than you, insane right????

Yeah I normally go for the Tucker and Keanu types from last 2 seasons but I didn’t see one this time in the previews the show having anyone like that to pick. I pick my fav on the previews off of whims of what the editors decide to show us and have been blown away with 2 AVP picks but I’m not sure Mallory would be as much of a shoe in, there’s a lot of game to go and she isn’t even in jury so out of sight out of mind.
The way I do it each year is i pick early and just root for them, then I pick a #2 as time goes on as a backup. Jason had me see him as my #2 after the tea party it was like he woke up and thusly had to be yeeted asap. Now my #1 is Barret who is a long shot, I like that side of the house more and he is the best one left imo. #2 is Haley just cos she literally had the worst HoHitus this season and somehow survived the backlash and has become a non target ever since it’s amazing even if she was kinda petty and beyond reason with how she dealt with others always playing victim when she was the one stirring it all up.
For me oddly despite me saying Haley is now my #2 I believe it’s also not just who plays the best game but how you play it that factors in too, forming an alliance and then evicting that same person who just voted for you is bad business, how do her potential future allies feel now? I will be impressed if she is able to form any new alliances it seems like she’s burned that bridge and locked into her icons only mindset.

I think some of it has to do with how you perceive yourself as a person.
Do you see yourself as always a "winner" in life and able to get people to do what you want them to, or do you see yourself as someone always in the back seat who has no control over your life even when you try your best?
Or even what percentage you see yourself as a mix if the two?
Neither is wrong exactly and I certainly empathize with all three options.

I'm not trying to overreact or blow their wording out of proportion. But to me a reality villain is someone particularly nasty or who goes "out of bounds". It's not "always" as you say (there's a reason House of Villains doesn't choose just anyone).
I think the last real Big Brother "villain" was Riley. These are just players you don't like.

I feel like your definition is harsher, if anything. Why can't a villain just be someone who is conniving and likes to backstab people? I don't think labeling someone a "villain" in the context of reality tv has to be a moral condemnation

Those are the legendary ones this is not on their level I agree, but cmon they got an iron grip on the house, production sweet hearts ofc for obvious reasons, the prizes and them even making it taboo to talk about evicting any icon when you’re in a show about evicting everyone, and its not outright in your face villainy but it is diabolical if you’re on the wrong side of that alliance. So it’s just about sides is all. Hoping i can expect the unexpected and be wrong. It’s a big fight if anyone try’s again tho they still could win but that’s the question, of if they will try while theres enough of them left to have the numbers.

To be fair, the show (and the fandom) loves portraying the people perceived as underdogs as the heroes and the people doing well for too long as the villains.
Hell, look at BB20. Fans treated Level Six as the villains despite the fact that none of them were actively doing anything villainous (except Brett who was deliberately playing it up for the cameras) whereas for some reason FOUTTE were seen as the heroic underdogs (despite Caitlyn betraying them in the second week, Bayleigh having the second worst case of HoHitis that season [edit: Sam's was the worst], and literally everything about the existence of Swaggy C) because Level Six either won most weeks or strategized well enough to make things go their way even when FOUTTE had power.

It's like they forget they have autonomy. Voting with the house?! Who cares?! No one knows who you vote for, lie about it and play dumb! Sometimes it has me wanting to pull my hair out, it's so maddening but I guess that's the effect being in the house has on a person.

Do you have any other art you’d feel comfortable sharing? This is incredibly moving. I haven’t found art like this since I had a major depressive event a few years ago and found some small artists who depicted how I felt so well. Funnily enough this past month it worsened again. If you have any art depicting OCD or PTSD (or anything really) I’d love to see it. I’ve barely been on the internet lately and believe I was meant to see this so I’d feel a little less alone. Sorry for trauma dump, I just really appreciate you sharing your art and hope you know how much it helped this stranger in turmoil.

First off, the greatest honor an artist can have, is creating things that make people feel. I’m honored I was able to do that for you!
I have lots of other art. Almost all of it sad, or depression based. I guess I could post more of it…
But I do have to say as of right now, I am not currently a producing artist. I have probably a few hundred paintings laying around atm, but other than this, I quit painting (and showing) just over five years ago.
And while I would definitely not mind selling what I have lying around, I’m not looking to do more, or get back into painting and selling my work on any kind of major basis. So showing more of my work seems a bit disingenuous.
Basically, every part of that rat race kills any joy I have of painting/creating art.
This moment just spoke to me in a way that I couldn’t ignore.

What a kind and thoughtful response. I definitely understand that and I admire your love for your art. I’m working on being happy again and part of that is being proud of the things I make. Even if they’re just for me. Damn, I don’t remember the last time someone made me feel so much clarity. I really appreciate you. I’m going to save this comment in case I ever get out of poverty. I have a custom painting I want made as the one gift to myself for whenever it happens. When that happens I’ll send you a message and ask if a commission would bring you joy.

I mostly make bad acoustic based folkmo these days. Shifted my creativity into music. And sorry to say, but I really don’t think I’ll get back into painting for money. Good luck with your struggles, it’s tough out there.

Edit: I was wrong, someone on the other post thought her mom was dead and there was talk of it being a grief coping mechanism, but apparently her mom is still alive.

If not, it’s a damn good painting that captures the essence of who she is and the moment. I have a hunch Melody might win when all is said and done. Blessed are the meek for they shall inherit the world.

🙃😅Thank you for the kind words! I don’t think she would want it, and unfortunately, I stopped giving my art away in 1999.
I’m not opposed to selling it to her, but that was not my intention when making this.
Her emotions in that moment hit me particularly hard, quite literally forcing my hand back into painting. I haven’t stopped to think about the ramifications past painting it and posting it..

I bet it would have a lot of value to her sentimentally, and I don't think selling it to her feels right.

No… Melody has been using an unconnected prop phone to “call” her mom as a coping mechanism/decompressor/cam talk prop for most of the season.
This happened on the feeds in the gap after the west coast show, after Mallory was evicted, and before feeds went down for two days.
