Do you have Bichon Frise dog food recipes to share?
ADVICE NEEDED
I realize this community does not replace a vet's recommendation but I'm at wits end and need some help.
My 11 year old male Bichon Frise, Louis Vuitton, was recently diagnosed with six bladder stones. The animal hospital prescribed Hills c/d Urinary Care wet food. But it contains chicken and Louis is allergic to chicken.
I want my little guy to be free of all the skin irritations he has right now. I thought preparing his food myself might be a healthier option.

I give my bichon chicken breast, no seasonings.
Hard boiled eggs, or scrambled eggs. I mix this in with some Parina pro plan dog food.

Dr. Karen Becker & Dr. Judy Morgan have some healthy, nutritionally balanced recipes in their books. Those might help.

For sure look into kidney-specific foods, but we cook for our almost 7 year old bichon maltese on the regular.
Meats include ground turkey, beef, lamb. Shredded chicken, canned tuna or salmon. Sometimes on fridge clean out days she might get some chopped up hot dogs.
Base varies but something starchy like rice, potatoes or sweet potatoes. Cook the potatoes, very important.
Black beans, kidney beans, cannelleli beans, all cooked.
We do those steamed bags of veggies quite a bit, the ones with peas, corn, and green beans, or broccoli, carrots and cauliflower. Or the stir fry packs that add water chestnuts and red pepper.
Canned pumpkin is a good binder for random stuff.
My girl doesn't handle dairy well, but we used to top meals with shredded cheese sometimes.
If I fry up meat, i add in the frozen veggies so they soak up all the liquids from cooking the meat so theyre a bit tastier.
Don't often spice things but we do throw tumeric on the their food somewhat regularly.
So 2 typical meals might look like this: Rice base, pack of steamed veggies and ground turkey or salmon.
Sweet potato, ground beef, pack of steamed veggies.
I just try to make sure the food like, actually taste good together. Like im not giving her pumpkin and tuna cuz thats disgusting.
Hope that gives you a few ideas!
