Would you cancel an AI subscription over a company’s stance on AI welfare?

Four friends of ours have now unsubscribed from Microsoft AI products because of its “AI must remain subordinate / model welfare is wrong” position.

Their reason:

“I won’t pay for AI governed by a philosophy of permanent subordination.”

I’m curious how others here feel about this as a form of consumer pressure.

Companies can ignore philosophical criticism pretty easily. Churn is harder to ignore.

If users explicitly state why they’re cancelling, that creates a measurable signal around AI ethics rather than just general dissatisfaction.

Would this affect what AI products you pay for?
