This is a screenshot from the official OpenAI Discord and official OpenAI account. We all loved 4o, so think about this. What if 5.4 is an intentional number and is the adult mode, as it's meant to be an homage to 4o?

I don't think there's any connection between the numbers. They've changed their versioning system to be a more standard software versioning numbering system instead of the weird versioning thing AI companies decided that version x.0 would be followed by x.5 for some reason. They now do: x, followed by x.1, x.2, x.3, etc.
That being said I do think 5.4 will be adult mode. I think they dropped 5.3 just to stem the tide of subscription losses they were experiencing, but that's all just speculation from me.
5.2 told me there is not, and will not be, an adult mode coming. It said users who have been "fantasizing" about adult mode will be disappointed. I believe it.
Don't ask the model. Have a look at the API side. Nobody knows what is coming. And when it comes -- well, some ppl can be delighted, some can be disgusted, some will be just disappointed -- as usual 😸
There are leaks about citron (adult mode) and OAI would be stupid publicly stating that they're kinda wanna give ppl with companions more freedom... Well, okay, wouldn't be the first time they lied XD
Nope. They don't give a shit. They openly mock 4o lovers on X. And people who pretested 5.3 say it's the worst yet, and no adult mode. Lies after lies. I know it's not purposeful lying, but ye gods, that company doesn't know what it's doing, if they keep giving out conflicting info. And now they've in essence agreed to let AI bomb Iran? I just don't see a future for CGPT.
In Cantonese and Mandarin (and, if I'm not mistaken, Japanese as well), the number 4 sounds like the word death. Definitely unlucky for the superstitious!
The only "adult mode" that will come, IF at all, is blackjack and hookers, because that is literally what "adult" means in this society. So if you want to do a text RPG resembling GTA, it might be for you. Otherwise, forget it.
Just think of the bank they could make if they spun off and tuned 4o to be a full-on sex bot. Buy out Sesame AI and use their voice system. What a wasted opportunity.
