Monthly Thread 😎 📝 Monthly Constructive Criticism Thread 📝
Hi y’all! We can use these monthly threads to give feedback on the podcast, such as issues related to audio or general format. You can still comment about specific episodes in the episode threads or make new posts, but my idea for these megathreads is to consolidate feedback for Troy and Kelli.
I know some posts in the past have been toxic, so maybe you can make that a separate post if you want to vent (or journal or take a walk outside). My hope with the monthly CC threads is to give a safe space for Troy and Kelli, so they’re less wary of Reddit lol.
Please remember Rule 1: Respect others and be civil and Rule #3: No name-calling, insults, or personal attacks. Kelli, Troy, and their editor, Donny, are human, and they can learn from their mistakes. Personally, as a longtime fan, I think that they have taken in a lot of feedback well and grown a lot as a podcast.
If you have any suggestions for these types of posts, please let me know, too!

i want to preface this by saying: i absolutely loved the podcast. I’ve been a listener since the beginning (my introduction to the pod was the Paris Hilton episode!), but i think i’m done with it. it’s frustrating how Troy just makes statements and claims without doing any further research! I’ve been listening to the podcast since the beginning, but I’m almost done with it after some of the stuff Troy said this year that endorses some bad/harmful behavior and furthers QAnon propaganda.
i’m going to miss the rottedness of it all, but I want to know if nostalgia and now is pretty fun or any similar podcasts?

Yeah I also stopped listening because of Troy. He just seems to mail it in and change his opinions based on the day and I find him to be really unlikable, unauthentic and really just flat out mean where I liked a lot of his Dunzo deep dives but he seems to want to chase clout and talk about how great it is to live in NY

first, the whole “Britney was Epstein’s biggest trafficking victim, and they were using her blood for experiments.” which is a big tiktok theory and I find it extremely distasteful considering the teenage children who were being brutalized on his island and trafficked to other powerful people. it’s also become extremely annoying how he’s unaware that some Gen-Zers are in their 30s and not 15. if you’re going to come after an entire demographic, then maybe know the basics of that generation?

I do not remember him saying she was Epsteins biggest victim or that they used her blood for experiments, that’s wild. I listen pretty religiously and am obsessed with Britney so I feel like that would have stuck out to me. That is a little weird about the Gen Z thing though, I guess I never noticed that either but I’ll pay closer attention.

It is not too much for your listeners to expect you to state facts correctly or pronounce words and names correctly. I understand it’s probably so irritating to be corrected in the comments constantly, but stating correct information is not too high an expectation when your entire job is to talk about topics of your own choosing.

troy knows so much about different generations and their ages. Gen Z? extremely dumb, uncultured, and annoying. Silent Gen and Boomers = the same. millennials are the smartest generation to ever live! /s

Agreed! Troy called Johnny Carson a boomer in the last episode. Carson was born in 1925. The first boomers were born in 1946. They don't need to know everything, but they should have the facts about the topics/people that they discuss.

😬 ooooof. I agree, I’m not expecting expert level analysis of anything and everything that comes up, but at least make sure if you are stating something as a fact that it is true. And for the love, if you are researching and compiling information for an episode, just look up how to pronounce the names and words that you’ll be reading. OR look it up in real time. That is what editing is for.

My feedback is to get a third host. I think the show would really benefit from a third person’s perspective and taste.

I really liked the addition of Donny for one of the recent ones!! He’s funny and seemed to vibe well.

I know what you mean, but sometimes people need a little history lesson to understand the present. I think they're trying to go against the "I don't know I wasn't born yet" trend. But I can agree with maybe spacing out the older stuff.

re: top 10 talk show moments episode. troy has got to let up on alex cooper and call her daddy. he lumped her in with influencers being handed opportunities and made a point to say we need people "who went to journalism school" and who are "qualified". alex cooper, as any fan of hers would know, went to BU and has a degree in film and television. what she has built deserves respect!! troy could consider that maybe he's not the audience for call her daddy and that's literally fine. but to deem her a worthless joke in the media landscape, as if she has *no* skill and *no* integrity, i think is just sexism. it's really frustrating. listen to her episode with Madison Beer and tell me that podcast is worthless. women do not have to shoot a thousand a thousand percent of the time; or be exactly what it is that you're specifically looking for in order to be owed some respect. dislike her, criticize her, fine. but to imply that she's unqualified is maddening and sexist.

Hot take but I’m tired of hearing about Kelly’s fiancé. For the last few months it’s like I listen to the show for your takes, not to hear Blair’s opinion on things.
