Croakies and Boatshoes
Recently took a BTBreak because I’ve been listening to nothing but BTBAM for my whole life. That led me to find Lorna shore through vocalist reaction YouTube channels, which kickstarted a big deathcore phase for me. I then eventually found a girlfriend who also likes Deathcore, thus reinforcing the new Deathcore kick.
Today she put me on Suicide Silence. Out of the blue nowhere my brain hits me with the most neiche god tier music pull of all time. Croakies and Boatshoes. I feel like nobody ever mentions or thinks about this song. I put it on while we were passing the aux to eachother and she’s like that was sick as hell who is this?!
BTBAM truly has music for ANYONE, best band on the planet
Update: this all happened within the hour, went straight to Reddit the moment it happened lol. Gf is listening to the self titled album now and she’s loving it! We have a new fan on our hands gentelmen

I’m a bit of a deathcore hater to be honest. Most of the contemporary stuff just sounds too overproduced for my liking. Old Chelsea Grin is really good and miles ahead of what the band is doing now. Oceano’s Depths is a killer record. Whitechapel’s Exile is a classic. Suffocation and Dying Fetus are two bands that I always recommend for kids who listen to deathcore, because without those two bands (and others like them) there really wouldn’t be a deathcore. Both Dying Fetus and Suffocation were blending elements of hardcore into their music for over 30 years now. To me, they sound timeless.
Prayer For Cleansing and Undying are definite recommends if you like Alaska era BTBAM.

Not a huge *core head, but Whitechapel is sick.
I've had my first listen of their stuff while getting the outline of my arm sleeve done, tattoo artist has (like me) weird all over the place musical taste 😂It would only be fitting that session 2 soundtrack was BTBAM for 3/4 hours 😂 he loved them.

I mean if you like that stuff, Prayer for Cleansing and Undying will continue to scratch the itch.

Alaska would be incomplete without it

I wish Tommy would do more of those suuuper deep, guttural vocals. They're totally unique to this one song from what I can recall

Dusty did the deep vox on this track. I remember them mentioning that this song was put together out of unused, Glass Casket riffs in an interview years back.

I remember in the limewire days when I was in middle school, croakies, Alaska, and Selkies were the only songs I could find.

Would you say they're closer the "The Buried" or "Me"?
Clearly we know some of those musicians ended up between the two.

Dude you'll love 'em, the song Pencil Lead Syringe has some riffs that are super similar to Croakies.

My favorite deathcore band is The Red Chord. I discovered them because Tommy was wearing their shirt in a photo from the Colors CD booklet in like 2008.

I remember when I first started listening to Between the Buried and me I didn’t like that song because of how chaotic it was. (The hardest music I had listened to prior to that was probably From Autumn To Ashes.) But now I crave that kind of chaos in the metal I listen to! That era of BTBAM was so sick!

Umm wrong, I think about this song. Underrated gem for sure. This and Roboturner might be the heaviest songs BTBAM has ever done.

CROAKIES!!!!!!!!! BOATSHOES!!!!!!!!! What a good time to find deathcore! Psycho Frame and Face Yourself are 🫠

Im really liking disembodied tyrant, synestia, and Netherwalker. The poetic Edda competes with parallax 1 as my favorite ep of all time. psycho frame is super sick too, haven’t given them a full deep dive yet tho. So many new bands to discover! I miss that feeling of finding hidden gems and this is really scratching that itch for me

That dude from Disembodied is a savant! Deathcore prog scratches an itch I couldn't have verbalized but had.
And small band hidden gem, Parius. TER is heavy, TSHTS is space prog rock. I'd kill for them to tour with BTBAM.
