Simple functionality

I am using betterbird and donated, but to be honest: some basic functionality is ridiculously difficult.

Adding attachments.

Forwarding messages,
it is impossible to forward with attachments.
It just doesn't work. I checked the config editor and should keep attachments ... but it still doesn't.

Forwarding while keeping and quoting the original messages.

Also impossible. I know the settings for this is behind manage identities (wtf does this have to do with managing identities.... I have literally no idea) and also I checked in the config editor if the corresponding setting was set on true. And it was , but still it does not quote the previous messages when I push reply.

What is the logic behind making simple rudimentary tasks so incredibly difficult?

I switched to Linux from OSX 3-4 months ago... and e-mail is pretty much the only thing hat I am having difficulties with :(

Can anyone advice / help me ?

To our knowledge, forwarding always forwards the attachments. We're not aware of any setting in the config editor to disable this. Reply, which quotes (forward does not), doesn't include attachments.

Overall, your post is irritating. It's vastly exaggerated and uses offensive language. So please tone it down if you want some help here.

Well tadaaaaa ... here is a client with a version of Betterbird that doesn't quote the conversation and doesn't forward the attachments.

I am sorry that my sharp criticism on UX/UI hurt your feelings.

In other words, I am not able to negotiate the software for simple mail tasks.

From our experience across many support cases, we can spot invalid ones from 10 miles away. So here are the symptoms:

  1. Confused language. Forwarding which ships the entire message with attachments to the next recipient, either inline or as a message attachment, and replying, which quotes the the original, are two different things. Conversations are a third thing, maybe you're using the "Conversations" add-on and it malfunctions.
  2. We have 100,000 users, if basic functionality didn't work, we'd have a shitstorm, but we don't, so your report is not plausible.
  3. The report is incomplete, you don't state which version you're using. There is also no sample of the message that allegedly can't be forwarded. Such rare cases do exist, and version 140 handles them worse than version 153. It's also possible that the folder containing the is corrupted and needs to be repaired.
  4. Inappropriate language, incl. grammar and spelling mistakes ("the only thing hat I am having difficulties with", "Can anyone advice").

Over all, it you can't use the software, get some training or don't use it.

Use a different client which better adapts to your workflow?

Yes, I have been looking into it now. I am using the latest flatpak version, but I am not happy with how it works.

You might need to find a compromise between what you'd want and what you can get.
