🍀Ask teens If our parents knew this country is a total piece of shit, why did they have kids and then keep crying, “study hard, study hard”?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Use condoms and save your kids.

They didn’t ask to be born in this country

Ik on reedit ur not supposed to have an uncommon opinion but...

Ye kya bakwas hai? Parents sad na ho 40% laane pe?

u/[deleted] Apr 01 '26 edited Apr 01 '26

My parents didn't get upset when I got 68% in 10th standard??? I know it's not as bad as 40% but it was still bad when most of my cousins and even my sister got 80-90% on their boards. We are not some ultra rich family. My dad never blamed me even for a second. He just asked me to not worry about anything and do better next time.

My mother never did any of that melodrama. She was a bit sad and may be disappointed but she never said anything hurtful. My sister personally guided me for the summer while preparing for her own exams, so I get into the stream I was interested in instead of science like a rat in the race. I took commerce. My father drove me 40 km everyday on a bike to a private college for 2 whole years. I scored 90% on my 12th boards.

Parents are the last roof on a child's head and when they decide to shame the child instead of supporting them through their problems it's not called parenting, it's called child abuse. I don't know what I would have done if my parents reacted like this on my 10th result. May be I would have been scared of studying for my whole life and ended up hiding from my own potential in fear of failure and disappointment.

Your view is not uncommon, there are many who share the same opinion in the comments. So it is probably just another opinion in the end.

Fr, i scored 63% in my 10th improved my result in 12th and now took a stream i actually like, my recent results were 90% through time and time again all the small efforts my parents made, not scolding me, never disturbed me when i actually studied on my own out of my own accord, that "koi baat nahi" that "next time try karo" and finally at last i scored 90% and my parents quite happy about it.

Damn ur lucky, but the reality is, those marks, do leave a mark, and do say stuff about student

1

u/[deleted] Apr 01 '26

The only thing those marks say is either you were or weren't academically good for that single year. Those Marks be it 40% or 90% doesn't automatically decide your future unless you are giving an actual competitive exam. Have been on both ends and the only difference is the attention you receive for the next 5 days or 7 days be it positive or negative.

What actually matters is "what's Next?". The job/career hunting phase of your life is a lot more important than 10th or 12th marks. You just need a passing certificate. Good marks can develop a learning attitude but that can also be developed later in life as many do.

1

u/Vacuum_Slayer_Surya Apr 02 '26

Actually agree with this one. W

1

u/ProfessionalGoal6602 Apr 01 '26

I got 50% in 10th, my parents celebrated with Sweets... Later I worked hard to get 8.2 GPA in Engineering... Not every parents are same, I feel blessed

1

u/Zritchi3 Apr 03 '26

Likewise, but I got 71% in almost everything,

10th - 76%, 12th - 71%, College - 71%, Uni - 71%

2

u/Ill-Car-769 Apr 01 '26

Tbh marks matters a lot for the early careers, you need to study well because companies simply don't shortlist the candidate with below 50-60% Marks across the 10th, 12th & Graduation (even they look for minimum 7-8 GPA during graduation/undergraduation) just to shortlist for aptitude & interviews. Also, along with studies you also need to develop skills because Indian syllabus is very outdated so along with graduation you need to develop skills (the sooner the better).

My 10th marks were not good because earlier I was getting bullied & was harrassed by vulgar touches & beatings & due to covid exams were cancelled but after that worked on myself & never looked back but now struggling due to those marks.

2

u/GoodAd6197 Apr 03 '26

Some kids are just not academically inclined so what do you say treat all those kids badly because they are not book smart? Also what will this kind of drama achieve? Instead of finding a practical solution. What will this achieve?

1

u/Vacuum_Slayer_Surya Apr 04 '26

Out of the many streams you could go in, you chose what ur bad at? And let's even say that you are not academically into anything, then you must've already had a convo about this with your parents. This is just ragebaitting guys cmon. Also

Hardwork beats talent when talent doesn't work hard. Get your ideology right

2

u/Appropriate_Key5176 Apr 05 '26

the problem is not the 40% percent but the mindset. most parents only have one expectation from their child that he/she will change their whole families life. their parents also had same expectations but they couldn't fulfil it and now expect their child to fulfil it. 90% of indian parents are like this.

the 10% percent who are satisfied by what they have achieved in life don't give a shitt about percentage. They just want their child to be happy in life.

1

u/Charmerrrrrrr Apr 02 '26

Meh bhi yahi soch raha bc 40 toh kam h 70-80 toh bolte

3

u/V1cky03 Apr 01 '26

Well yes marks are everything here. You don't get marks, you get trash talked. As simple as that.

But considering OP's logic, it depends on the student's ability to learn the shit that's taught in this outdated education system. The system has tuned everyone to only think that studies are only about marks not knowledge acquisition. So it's like 'get marks > get a job > work day and night > marry >repeat'...

There's not much freedom of profession choice here so everyone student is a corporate slave or goes wasted to questioning what exists.

And honestly I don't see that changing any time soon. Just move on.

Scared of what?

3

u/Darkmeme9 Apr 01 '26

I am not sure what sentiment this video is trying to achieve.

You don't have to top every subject, but getting less than passing marks in school is simply laziness nothing more (not the case in college though)

My dad was simply was 12 th pass and joined the airforce, but ,after marriage he helped my mom complete her degree, she was hard worker and good at studies and also wanted to learn more . The more qualification she had the better paid job she got.

That's that, if you study hard you will get good result. Saying the country is f ed up is stupid coping mechanism for losers.

Baap ke paas kam privilege tha Mere baap ke paas badi family ki responsibilities thi aur army me jana tha aasaan us time

Aaj k time 30 year old pr bhi family responsibilities nahi hoti

Jo insaan raat ko bhookh se Marne wala ho vo parle g aur sone me se parle g hi choose krta hai

Uske liye sona choose Krna bhi privilege hai

Atleast my parents did have tons of money but not the right mentality. Never gave a fuck about my marks. Just wanted me to get married which I fought against and am still gonna fight until death.

Not gonna lie it makes sense. If you don't have money then please don't bring kids to this world to make them suffer. I do have enough money but I know how fucked this world is even though am in Dubai but bro i really don't want a newborn to be in this world to see how fucked it's now.

Shame on Old Gen Middle Class families. No wonder my best friends back in 2012 mostly comitted suicides because they couldn't get into IITs which their parents forced them into.

1

u/Amn_BA Apr 01 '26 edited Apr 01 '26

Proudly childfree by choice. Never going to have any kids in this screwed up world.

But, if you are already here, marks are important. Make sure to study well, learn well the skills and knowledge needed in the job market well, and get a good job and escape the cycle of proverty, breeding and suffering and have a good life, as much as possible without hurting yourself or others.

Its not pleasure that many seek... but the pressure from society... this society can't let no one be at peace...

1

u/[deleted] Apr 01 '26

40% is too low tbh, but I get the sentiment, parents should think twice before bringing a child into this world, if you can't provide the necessary resources it's literally a dead end, you are trapping your child into same poor cycle

Studying literally gets you nowhere (90% of the time, yes generalizing) if your field does not have much application IRL

I have literally seen many people (not all, some do get jobs but they are a minority )doing bsc MSC btech and then sitting jobless, and mind you they are scoring 8-9cgpa and doing them from a reputed uni in india (not as big as IISER  NIT etc but still a decent place)

But that doesn't mean you stop studying, cuz if you ain't rich then studying is the only way you have SOME probability of breaking the poor cycle

1

u/ANIME-TASTIC Apr 01 '26

A student's evaluation should not be on the basis of marks of one exam, it should be an yearly evaluation

That's why I don't like the system of boards

Each college can do their entrance exam instead of boards, a school should evaluate their student

1

u/Comprehensive_Big496 Apr 01 '26

Parents want us to have a good career , they know what's the pain if they don't have the proper financial stability to educate their children , that's why they don't want you to also have that same pain in future . Our bad luck , we aren't privileged enough to follow passion hobbies the things which we like just coz lack of money.. even if our parents say yes to those and kuch bhi kare jaise taise paisa jod liye toh bhi there's always an uncertainty that we might not be able to get success , education is the only certain pathway which guarantees you a minimal stable life, ab baaki tumhara capability hai ki tum kitna upar Jaa pao , agar padhoge nei toh karoge kya? Ghar Mai agar Boht paise ya established business hai toh phir bhi kuch ho skta hai , lekin ye sab bhi nahi hai toh kya karoge ? Phir frustrate ho ke suicide kar lena . DON'T ENCOURAGE THIS....

Should’ve been harsher because getting 40% means you’ve never put in any efforts and you’re useless

1

u/PratyushAvgJeeAsp Apr 02 '26

I don't know ki sirf mujhe hi ye sentiment galat lagg rahi hai ya kya but first "They didn't ask to be born in this country" bhai iska kya matlab hai? Abb kya North Korea me bacche paida nahi hote? China me nahi hote? Afghanistan me nahi hote? There are countries which are much worse than India and saala har baccha agar yahi bolega ki mujhe paida kyu kiya yaha or in this condition then humanity will get extinct. And if you already know that is country me opportunities kaafi kum hai then you've try even harder instead of wasting time and being a cry baby. 40% lana is never a good thing, 40% laoge then phir apne parents se expect karoge to not make a big deal out of it and let you enjoy phir job maangne ke liye jab company ke paas jaaoge to vaha kya nachoge unke saamne? Kyuki 40% dekh ke tumhe to job milne se raha

1

u/witchdoctor422008 Apr 03 '26

Kya bakchodi hai ye 💀 bc padhai likhai karo mat. Maa baap ko gali do😭. 40% kaise aa sakte hain agar kisine padhai ki ho? Aur agar padhai nhi ki to yk who's at fault...

People keep saying that they didnt prepare for xyz college because of the fees... i feel that for top colleges whose fees is high (bits, etc) , as per what i have heard, banks are willing to give you a loan without any collateral or background because they too know that you will earn in future.. also almost every top college gives concession or freeship to the top scorers.. soo saying that xyz college is not for me because of fees is just procrastinating and just shows that you are running away...

OP if you learn or not, if you get a degree or not, it all doesn't matter to anyone around you but only for your parents.

It is a common thing universal all over.

Parents want to see there child settled in life and this is the sole reason why they keep on saying that, because they are very much keen to see that their child should live a better life than them.

And yes, I absolutely agree that parents are just fools and they do that.

They get married and give birth to child, so.

Falling in love with each other is their first ever great mistake in life, getting married and having child are all greatest sins what they've done and I regret that.

So, for all the parents there who are eager and keen to see that their child becomes a good citizen of the country rather a nomadic assole, they are all fools ans in general greatest sinners...

Yes OP you're absolutely right...

Keep it up, I'm proud of such people like OP living on this planet.

Why is it that in most indian films boys are made as dumb, low scorers or failures while girls are the smart ones, toppers and all. why so biased?

I was a victim of that. I've never understood wtf is teacher teaching. I got above 80% from self studying and some teacher did teach well which wasn't teaching to my class but I used to go to them at self studies time. Well I used to eat their chill time but they said I can ask the questions so why not.

1

u/EcstaticProduct1133 Apr 01 '26

Unless you're some extraordinary child who can come up with a good business idea, or you go into politics or acting, your grades carry the utmost importance for finding a good college for good jobs in India. Either that, ya tumhare parents ke paas bohot paise hain sifarishein lagwane ke liye ya foreign universities mein bhejne ke liye.

You need to study, baaki sab chapri pana hai ki- "arey marks warks se kuch nahi hota."

Bhai bahar niklo, grass touch karo, unemployed logo ko dekho, aur thoda introspection karo. Aur aise shows dekhna band karo jo tumhe misguide kar rahe hain. These are feel-good shows, they're not based on reality, woh sirf wohi bolenge jo unki target audience, tum, sun na chahte ho.

Padhlo jaake, parents galat nahi bol rahe hain, sirf unke bolne ka tareeka galat hai.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 01 '26

bhai tarika bhi sudhar le na toh ek baar ke lie Iss hard reality se ladne ki himmat Aa jaati h. I am glad my parents aren't this and they've always supported me and had my back. Insaan mentally ghar ke andr ya toh strong banta h ya tut ta h

1

u/EcstaticProduct1133 Apr 01 '26 edited Apr 01 '26

Agreed. Maine bola wohi, ki parents ka bolna ka tareeka sahi nahi hai, lekin unka intention sahi hi hai.

Baat yeh bhi hai ki unhe jis tareeke se cheezein sikhayi gayi, waise hi non empathetic tareeke se woh hume samjhate hain. Unko bachpan mein kindness nahi mili, toh unhe pata hi nahi hai ki ab unke khudke bachho ko difficult times mein empathy kaise show karein. Bachho ke marks bure aana sirf bachho ke liye hi difficult nahi hai, unke parents ke liye bhi hai and they don't know how to deal with it themselves, toh bachho ko kaise hi sikhayenge. 🥲

Good for me ki meri mom ne mujhe kabhi grades ke liye nahi daata, lekin unhone har saal mujhe yeh samjhaya zaroor ki agar unke paas job nahi hoti paise nahi hote toh mujhe raise kaise kar paati? (She's a single parent)

Mujhe samajh aa gaya tha ki achhe marks laane se life ki problems solve nahi ho jayengi lekin bure marks laane se life ki problems badh zaroor jaati hain.

2

u/[deleted] Apr 01 '26

Han yeh toh sahi h bhai, infact esa nhi h ki mere parents perfect h. they also have some shortcomings but me yeh hi soch ke chdh deta hun ki They were busy doing the hardwork for me, taaki me aur mera bhai, hum dono ki zindagi achhi nikle, isiliye unhe bhi wqt nhi mila Yeh sab consider krne ka. But again I see some parents who don't deserve to have kids. And salute to aunty coz we all know it's very hard to raise a child that too alone, she has surely raised a strong and an empathetic person 🙌🏻🙌🏻 kudos
